Willis "Buck" LeRoy Hensel

Willis (Buck) Leroy Hensel, age 89, passed from this life to eternal life on February 1, 2022, at Diamond Willow Assisted Living in Park Rapids, Minnesota. Buck Hensel was born to Rudolph and Frances (Christlieb) Hensel on March 18, 1932 in Osage Township, Minnesota. He attended District 37 country school in Osage Township. Buck worked as a logger in Montana and Minnesota, then as a heavy equipment operator, traveling all over, until he retired. When he wasn’t working Buck enjoyed hunting, fishing and farming and spending time with family. On March 22, 1972, Buck was united in marriage to Addie Jones Maples. They enjoyed life together at their home in Osage township for 35 years until Addie passed away in 2007. Buck was preceded in death by his wife, Addie (Maples) Hensel, parents, Rudolph and Frances (Christlieb) Hensel, siblings, Marvin, Donald, Walter, Lloyd, and Dorothy Amundson, stepson, Gene Maples, and stepdaughter, Judy Elrod. Buck is survived by his stepchildren, Linda Truxton of Holiday, FL, Bill (Jackie) Maples of Flippen, GA, Ilene Maples of Pine River MN; siblings, Marian Snelling, Lorraine Wilmes, Shirley DeMaris, and John Hensel all of Park Rapids, MN, and Sharon Yliniemi of Osage MN, and sister-in-law, Virginia Hensel. He will be remembered and greatly missed by his many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, friends and neighbors. Visitation will be held 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Wednesday, February 9, 2022, at Jones Pearson Funeral Home in Park Rapids, MN. Funeral service will be held Thursday, February 10, 2022, at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Park Rapids, at 11: 00 AM with visitation one hour prior to the service. Pastors James Neubauer and Joel Newton will officiate. Interment will follow the service at Greenwood Cemetery.
