VICKI ANN CHENEY August 28, 1947 – November 9, 2018 Vicki Ann Cheney, age 71, a lifelong Park Rapids, MN area resident, peacefully passed from this life to eternal life on Friday, November 9th, 2018 at the Essentia Health Hospital in Virginia, MN. Vicki was born on August 28, 1947 in Detroit Lakes, MN to Irving and Geraldine (Priebe) Roland. She grew up in the Osage/Park Rapids, MN area where she attended public school. On June 20, 1963, she was united in marriage to Douglas V. Cheney in Osage. Their marriage was blessed with three children: Leah, Mary Jo, and Troy. Vicki devoted herself to making a loving home for her family. She was a wonderful cook and baker who will be long remembered for her delicious homemade caramel rolls and tapioca pudding. In addition to caring for her family, Vicki also worked as a custodian in the Park Rapids High School during the decade of the 80’s. Vicki was a woman of faith who put her trust in the work Jesus Christ did for all of us on Calvary. She was a faithful and active member of the Assembly of God Church in Park Rapids. Vicki was gifted with numerous talents and one of them was interior design. She and her sister, Sharon Pohl did interior painting and wallpapering for a number of years. They also operated a children’s clothing store together. Vicki was united in marriage to Robert Dreckman on November 6, 2010. For much of the past decade, Vicki and Bob, along with Vicki’s sister, Sharon felt led by the Lord to distribute evangelism tracts and Bibles to those hungering for God’s truth in the redemption of lives through his forgiveness and love. Above all, Vicki devoted her life to her family who she loved unconditionally and completely. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Mary Jo (Patrick) Bridge of Chicago, IL and her son, Troy (Kathy) Cheney of Manitou Springs, CO; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; her sister, Sharon Pohl of Park Rapids; two brothers: Jim (June) Roland of Fairbanks, AK and Larry Roland of Prior Lake, MN as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Vicki was preceded in death by her daughter, Leah Schmalz, a grandson, Gregory Sharp, her husband Bob Dreckman who died in December of 2015 and her parents. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Friday, November 16, 2018 at the Assembly of God Church in Park Rapids, MN with the Rev. Timothy Wilson officiating. The casket bearers will be: Jerry Pohl, Scott Sharp, Mike Thompson, Bryan Soukup, Brandon Jones and Rich Ulvin. The honorary casket bearers will be her dearly loved grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Interment will be made next to her husband in the Greenwood Cemetery of Park Rapids. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service at the church. Following the service, a luncheon will be hosted by the Assembly of God Church family.
