Thomas Gene West

Thomas Gene West, age 68, of Park Rapids, MN, formerly of Menahga, MN, peacefully slipped into eternal life at his home in Park Rapids on Tuesday, May 3, 2022. Tom was born on June 19, 1953, in Park Rapids to Buster (Francis) and Hazel (Stephens) West. He attended the Menahga public schools and grew to manhood in Menahga. After graduating from high school in 1971, Tom enlisted in the United States Navy and served his country throughout the Pacific Ocean until his honorable discharge. He then returned to Minnesota and gained employment working construction in the Twin Cities area. Later he ventured to Louisiana and Texas and worked in construction there as well. He returned to Menahga in the early 1990’s and worked construction with his brother, Steve. Tom gained employment in 2007 with the Walmart store in Park Rapids for a period of 14 years. He loved the outdoors, especially when he could be out hunting of fishing. He also loved visiting with his friends and family, listening to Blues music and attending Blue’s concerts. Tom is lovingly remembered by his girlfriend of 15 yrs., Lynn Christianson, of Park Rapids, two sisters; Colleen Lage of Stillwater, OK and Charlene Lindquist of Menahga; and two brothers; Russell (Linda) West of Ennis, MT and Steve (Char) West of Menahga, as well as a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives. Tom was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers; Sandy and Doug and one sister; Vickie. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
