Sharon Faye Koskela, age 73, a lifelong Park Rapids, MN area resident, passed from this life to eternal life on Sunday, February 28, 2021 at the Sanford Medical Center in Fargo, ND with her loved ones at her side. Sharon was born on July 5, 1947 to Jim and Helen (Schrum) Weaver at the St. Joseph’s Area Hospital in Park Rapids. She attended the Dorset Public School and then went on to attend the Park Rapids High School, graduating with the Class of 1965. She then went on to attend College in Fargo where she earned her surgical technician certification. On May 6th, 1967, Sharon was united in marriage to Elmer Koskela at the First English Lutheran Church in Dorset. They were blessed with four children: Greg, Roslyn, Jason and Heidi. She devoted her life to making a secure and loving home for her husband and children. She will be long remembered for her delicious sour dough caramel rolls that were the first treats to disappear at the many church functions she participated in. She also loved to filet and fry fish for her family after a fun day of fishing. Each spring she looked forward to planting a large vegetable garden which she nurtured into fruitful abundance to preserve for her growing family. She also enjoyed raising flowers into colorful splendor for all to enjoy. From 1985 – 1994, Sharon and Elmer made their home with their family in Victor, Montana. In Addition to her love for fishing, Sharon also enjoyed hunting. Each year she enjoyed hunting the elusive whitetail and even hunted elk in Montana being successful year after year. She also looked forward to processing the meat after their hunts. Sharon was a woman of deep faith and was actively involved at First English Lutheran Church in Dorset where she attended nearly all her life. She enjoyed serving the Lord in numerous ways; but, her favorite was singing in the choir each Sunday. Sharon had also served on the Henrietta Town Board for many years and will be dearly missed for her work there. She will leave a deep void for her many friends and family who are comforted in knowing that what she used to see through faith she is now seeing with her own sight as she now sings praises to her Lord in the Heavenly choir. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband and soulmate for these past 54 years, Elmer of Park Rapids; her four children: Greg (Stacy) Koskela of Park Rapids, Roslyn (Steve) Henderson of Fargo; Jason (Tracie) Koskela of Park Rapids and Heidi (Daryn) Nilson of Osage; eight dearly loved grandchildren and two precious great grandchildren; her brother, Jerry (Jane) Weaver of Park Rapids; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
