RUBY T. BECKER

February 24, 1926 – April 9, 2019

                Ruby T. Becker, age 93, a lifelong Park Rapids area resident, peacefully passed from this life to eternal life on Tuesday evening, April 9, 2019 at the Heritage Living Center in Park Rapids with her loved ones at her side.

                Ruby was born on February 24, 1926 in Pierpont, South Dakota to Fred and Bertha (Smeins) Pollworth.  As a small girl, her family purchased a farm southwest of Menahga, MN in Runeberg Township.  Ruby walked to country school each day from her home through the eighth grade.  She went on to attend high school in Menahga from where she graduated with the Class of 1942.  As a young woman, she gained employment working as a seamstress for the Munsingwear Company and later for the Ringer Manufacturing Company.  On February 2, 1948, Ruby was married to Alfred Lee Becker and they were blessed with four children: David, Joyce, Duane, and Dale.  Ruby devoted herself to making a warm and loving home for her husband and children.  She was a wonderful cook and baker who will be long remembered for her delicious desserts and pastries.  Ruby had a passion for raising beautiful flower gardens and always kept her home adorned with beautiful floral bouquets.  She also enjoyed feeding and watching the birds that graced her home and yard.  She was a long time member of the Riverside United Methodist Church in Park Rapids and was also a long time member of the U GO-I GO Homemakers Club.

                Ruby will be lovingly remembered by her four children:  David (Carol) Becker of Park Rapids, Joyce (Gene) Corle of Alexandria, Duane (Cindy) Becker and Dale Becker all of Park Rapids; seven dearly loved grandchildren and eight precious grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

                She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred in 1988 and three brothers: Albert, Roy and Fred, and two sisters: Ruth and Betty.

                Funeral services will be held 11:30 Wednesday, April 17, 2019 at the Jones-Pearson Funeral Home in Park Rapids with the Rev. Chip Nielsen officiating.  Special music will be provided by Ruby’s grandson-in-law, Matt Odin.  The organist will be Dorothy Crook.  Casket bearers will be grandchildren: Jeff Corle, Mathew Corle, Mary Marchell, Sara Odin. Adam Becker and Tyler Becker.  Interment will be made in the Greenwood Cemetery next to her husband, Alfred. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service.
