Myren Joseph Kiefert

MYREN JOSEPH KIEFERT September 16, 1935 –  June 17, 2019                 Myren Joseph Kiefert, age 83, a long time Park Rapids/Menahga, MN area resident, peacefully entered the glorious splendor of Heaven on June 17, 2019, in the comfort of his home surrounded by his loved ones. Myren was born in Lisbon, North Dakota on September 16, 1935, to Leo and Pearl (Libing) Kiefert.  As a teenage boy, he moved with his family to the Menahga, MN area where he grew up helping on his parent’s farm.  As a young man, Myren worked for the Ford Garage in Park Rapids where he acquired mechanical skills and knowledge that benefited him his entire life. He worked for the Rockcrete Company of Park Rapids in a career that spanned over 46 years until his retirement in 2000. There Myren built a variety of concrete products used in building construction and landscaping.  On August 30, 1969, Myren was united in marriage to Shirley Paulson and he was blessed with 9 children who he loved as his own: Susan, Judy, Nancy, Barbara, Steven, Connie, Carol, LeRoy, and Nyla. They made their home in Straight River Township where Myren has lived right up until the time of his death.  Throughout his life, Myren loved the outdoors; especially when he could be out fishing or hunting.  In his spare time, he enjoyed woodworking and built everything from bird feeders, bird houses, furniture, and riding toys.  He was a member of the Eagles Aerie #870 in Park Rapids for 30 years. Myren loved tinkering with mechanical projects and had overhauled many engines and enjoyed restoring many Model A Fords.  He endured the death of his precious wife and soulmate, Shirley in 2015.  Myren will be lovingly remembered by his six children: Judy (Randy) Petrie of Brainerd, Nancy Dickinson of Park Rapids, Barbara Hildebrandt of Osage, Connie Paulson of Philadelphia, PA, LeRoy (Sandra) Paulson of Park Rapids; and Nyla (Daniel) James of Adkins, TX; 21 grandchildren; many precious great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren;  5 siblings: Verla (Ray) Putnam of Menahga, Florence Booth of Barnesville, MN, Ned Kiefert of Benson, MN, Claris (Dick) Kron of Grasston, MN, and Marlin (Liz) Kiefert of Glencoe, MN; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley in 2015, three children: Susan, Carol, and Steven; sister, Lois; three brothers: Harold, Orlin and Arnold and his parents. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Friday, June 21, 2019, at the Jones-Pearson Funeral Home, Park Rapids, MN.  Visitation will be held 5-8 PM Thursday, June 20, 2019, at the Jones-Pearson Funeral Home.  Interment will be in the Greenwood Cemetery, Park Rapids, MN.   To leave online condolences or to view the tribute video please visit www.jonespearson.com
