Luella Jane Bliss-Lohse

Luella Jane Bliss-Lohse, age 87, peacefully passed from this life to eternal life at her home on 507 Grove Avenue North in Park Rapids with her loved ones at her side.

Luella was born on January 30, 1936 in Bemidji, Minnesota to William and Mavis (Fletcher) Simon. She attended public schools in Bemidji and from the young age of 14 until she graduated (Bemidji Class of 1954) worked at the TB sanatorium, currently operating under the name of Lake Julie Sanatorium in Puposky. Luella attended Bemidji Vocational College and studied office management.  She was united in marriage to Percy Nate Bliss, Jr. on June 11, 1955.  They were blessed with two children: Karlyn and Karsten.  They made their home in the Bemidji area until moving to Park Rapids in 1968.  Luella devoted herself to making a loving home for her husband and children.  In addition to homemaking, Luella worked as a nanny, nurses aid, and did bookkeeping for the Larson's Hardware Store and the Smart Chiropractic Clinic.  She was united in marriage to Kenny Lohse on February 14, 2005 and they lived happily together until the time of his death.  Luella was a long-time and faithful member of the Calvary Lutheran Church in Park Rapids where she loved worshipping.

Luella will be loving remembered by her two children: Karlyn Hansen of Milliken, Colorado and Karsten Bliss of Park Rapids, Minnesota; three dearly loved grandchildren: Bryan Bliss, Brittney Swanson, and Brigett Hansen; four precious great grandchildren: Clarissa, Bryley, Ryleigh, and Cassius; one sister, Laura DeVries of Bemidji as well as nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Kathy Harms and her two husbands: Percy Bliss and Kenny Lohse.

Memorial services will be held 11:00 A.M. Monday, August 21st at the Calvary Lutheran Church in Park Rapids with Rev. Steve Norby officiating and providing special music. Visitation will begin at  10 AM.
