Louis Mortimer Meeks Jr

Louis M. Meeks, Jr., age 74, of Park Rapids, MN, passed away at his home surrounded by his family on Tuesday, December 3, 2024. Louis was born on February 4, 1950, in Parkersburg, WV, to Louis, Sr., and Lillian (Lonfors) Meeks. In 1951 Louis moved with his family to Snellman, MN. 

Louis met Elaine Gillette at Toad Lake, MN. They were married on Nov. 22, 1968. He later joined the Airforce . They lived in Texas and Nevada while serving his country. After his honorable discharge they moved back to Minnesota. They resided in Moorhead when their daughter Theresa was born in 1971. Louis worked at Silverline Boats in Moorhead, MN, Gabor Trucking, Detroit Lakes, MN, Dagget Trucking, Frazee, MN, and RDO with his best friend, Jeff. 

Louis was able to work in his workshop making wood crafts for 10 years as a living. He looked forward to seeing fellow crafters when they traveled to shows. He loved spending time with his grandsons and great grandchildren. He loved fishing and playing cards in his spare time with his family.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Elaine Meeks of Park Rapids, MN; his daughter Theresa Meeks of Park Rapids; grandchildren, Garrett (Tasha Eckman) Meeks of Menahga, MN, and Matthew Meeks of Park Rapids, MN; two great-grandchildren, Ashlyn and Louis; three brothers William Meeks of Detroit Lakes, MN, Robert (Tanya Harris) of Detroit Lakes, MN, and Charles (Carolyn) Meeks of Ogema, MN; and three sisters, Lois (Lyle Tabbut) Mastin, Brenda (Robert) Wickline, and Bonnie (Anthony Fairbanks) Meeks.

Louis was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, father-in-law, mother-in-law, three brothers-in-law, and a sister-in-law.
