LOLA ANN DENNIS January 4, 1929 – November 17, 2020 Lola Ann Dennis age 91, a lifelong resident of Park Rapids, MN, peacefully passed into eternal life on Tuesday, November 17, 2020 at the CHI St. Joseph’s Hospital in Park Rapids, MN. Lola was born on January 4, 1929 in Fremont, Nebraska to Benjamin and Ethel (Lincoln) Larsen. As a small girl, she moved with her family to a farm southeast of Park Rapids, MN. She attended the District #6 Potters Country School near her home through the eighth grade. She then went on to attend high school in Park Rapids. As a young woman of 17, Lola began working for the Munsingwear Company in Park Rapids, working herself up to the position of forelady. On May 10, 1954, Lola was united in marriage to Eugene F. Dennis in Fargo, ND. After living in Fargo for a short time, Lola and Gene returned to the Park Rapids area. Lola devoted herself to making a warm and loving home for her husband. She was a wonderful cook and baker who will be long remembered for her delicious homemade chicken and dumplings. She was also very much appreciated for preparing delicious fish dinners for Gene and his fishing buddies after a successful day of fishing out on area lakes. Over the years, Lola kept a flock of chickens and would sell farm fresh eggs to neighbors and friends who were enthusiastic repeat customers. In 1958, Lola began working for the Ringer Company of Park Rapids. Her career there earned her the position of assistant manager. Her stress-filled work there required great commitment and competency as she would help direct the daily operations of the plant. Lola always enjoyed working with her hands doing knitting, and sewing baby clothes which she would give as gifts to many new mothers. She would also sell many articles of her handwork at the Craft Arcade. Each spring she looked forward to planting a large vegetable garden and raising many beautiful flowers into colorful splendor for all to see and enjoy. Lola was a long time member of the Otto Hendrickson American Legion Auxilliary in Park Rapids. Above all, Lola devoted her life to her husband, Gene who she loved with all her heart. She will be lovingly remembered by one brother, Benjamin F. Larsen of Jacksonville, FL; as well as many nieces and nephews. Lola was preceded in death by her husband, Gene on January 21, 2010; her parents; two brothers: Leonard and Glen and six sisters: Lila, Nancy, Patsy, Laura, Mildred and Molly. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Monday, November 30, 2020 at the Jones-Pearson Funeral Home in Park Rapids with Rev. Fred Brown officiating. Rev. Brown as his wife, Beverly will provide special music by singing, “Peace In The Valley” and “The Old Rugged Cross”. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service.
