Leslie Seward, age 85, passed away peacefully on June 11, 2024, at the St. Williams Living Center in Parkers Prairie, MN. Leslie was born on February 18, 1939, in Chudleigh, Devon, England to Walter John and Belinda Mary (Tope) Seward. At age 11, Leslie began attending Exter Tech School for the advanced. All his life, Leslie was able to fix and build almost anything.
In 1957, Leslie and his brother George immigrated to Canada. A year later, they both moved to the United States of America. In 1961, Leslie enlisted in the U.S. Army. He served in Germany during the Cold War. On November 13, 1970, Leslie became a U.S. citizen. Leslie was united in marriage to June Solvik on July 31, 1964, at the Melo Lutheran Church, in Warren, MN. The couple was blessed with two daughters - Mary Paulseth and Joyce Godwin. They were also blessed for 38 years by Stacy Paulseth who was more than a son-in-law to them. Leslie and June farmed for 25 years near Warren, MN. Leslie worked hard to support his family. He was an entrepreneur at heart. Leslie started many varied businesses.
Leslie was an active member of the Melo Lutheran Church. He served on boards, helped plant and harvest the congregation's fields, and volunteered at the Lake of the Woods Bible Camp. Leslie was a proud member of the Legion Club until the day he passed. In 1991, Leslie and June retired to the Park Rapids, MN area. They lived happily on the lakes. Leslie loved gardening, fishing, flying his planes, snowmobiling, and dancing with June.
Leslie was a devoted husband to June for 57 years, was a nurturing dad to Mary and Joyce, and a fun-loving grandpa to his three grandchildren Abbigail Paulseth, Ripp Baker, and Landon Godwin.
Leslie is preceded in death by his parents, his wife June, and his daughter Joyce.
