Lena Grace Long

Lena Grace Long, age 88 of Park Rapids, MN passed from this life into eternal life on, January 15, 2022 at Diamond Willow in Park Rapids, MN Lena Grace Wilson was born on January 30, 1934, at home in Oakwood, Illinois. Her parents were the late Perry (Pudge) and Grace (Oakwood) Wilson. Lena graduated from Oakwood High School in 1952. She was employed with Bell Telephone and then General Electric. On may 17,1958, Lena was united in marriage to Frank Porter Smith in Danville, Illinois. They were married for 6 years. Their marriage was blessed with three children: Diana Lynn, Debra Jo and Mark Porter Smith. Lena continued her employment with General Electric as she raised her family. In 1965 Lena married Clarence Long. They were married for 20 years and resided in Oakwood for 9yrs. Then in 1974 they moved to Akeley, Minnesota where they farmed and milked cows. After her divorce in 1985 she worked as a nurse's aide at the nursing home in Walker, Minnesota and also provided in-home health care in Minneapolis before retiring. in Walker. Lena had a strong Christian faith and loved spending time with her family playing board games, cards and any other games. She also loved sewing quilts for each of her grandchildren. She did cross stitching, and embroidery. Her cooking and baking was the best, especially her homemade noodles. Lena was preceded in death by her parents, Perry and Grace Wilson; daughter, Dianna Lynn Smith; step-daughter, Tammy Donahue; great-grandson, Eli Ryan; siblings: Wendell Wilson, Perry Wilson, Wilma Brandon, Betty Wolfe, Phyllis Cast, Marge McNamara, Carole Wilson, Marian Stevens, and Lela Wilson(Lena's twin) Lena is survived by her daughter, Debra Smith of Akeley; son, Mark and Kellie Smith of Akeley; step-son, Timothy Long of Portage, Indiana; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; many cousins, nephews, nieces and a host of friends.
