Larry Dean Tretbar, 63, of Ponsford, Minnesota passed away on Tuesday, February 8, 2022, at his home surrounded by his family. Larry Dean Tretbar was born on August 28, 1958, in Chicago, Illinois to Maurice and Mildred (Pihlaja) Tretbar. He grew up in Chicago until the family moved to Ponsford in 1971 where he lived for the rest of his life. Larry graduated from Park Rapids High School in 1977. He met Jean Mack in high school, and they were united in marriage on July 28, 1979, at Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Snellman, Minnesota. They were blessed with two children Brian and Ashley. They built their home next to Larry’s parents in 1981. Larry was a volunteer firefighter for the Carsonville Fire Department for many years. He worked construction after high school until 1985, where he started working for Becker County Highway Department until his retirement in 2009. Larry was an excellent softball player and would play as often as he could. He was very family orientated and loved spending time with his grandchildren. He enjoyed camping, fishing, and deer hunting. Deeply loved, Larry’s passing will be mourned by his wife of 42 years Jean, his children Brian (Tina Amiot) Tretbar and Ashley (Dan) Peil, his grandchildren Addison Tretbar, Maci Jo Tretbar, Jayce Tretbar, Tate Tretbar, Hailey Tretbar, and Wyatt Peil, his father Maurice Tretbar, his sisters-in-law: Sandy Tretbar, Joan (Al) Bendson, Julie (Greg) Sitz, Lori (Steve) Eix, Brothers- in -law: Tom ( Elaine) Mack, John (Linda) Mack, Bob Mack and a large extended family. Larry is preceded in death by his mother Mildred, brother Tony Tretbar and his parents-in-law Joe and Vi Mack.
