Kimberly JoAnn Wettels

Kimberly JoAnn Wettels, age 35, of Ponsford, Minnesota gained her angel wings and flew to heaven on Friday, October 20, 2023, at the University of Minnesota Medical Center surrounded by many that love her.  Her family will be forever grateful for the incredible set of lungs she received on July 28, 2023, due to complications from years of a courageous battle with Cystic fibrosis, she gained her wings.

Kim, the little sister of Jason,  was born on March 21, 1988, to Jim and Karen (Eischens) Wettels in Park Rapids, Minnesota. Her big brown eyes and huge smile would light up any room and her strong soul was always present. 

Kim began her education years at Osage Elementary in Osage, MN. Here she developed many lifelong friendships. Her education  continued in  Park Rapids where she gained more friendships and graduated with the class of 2007. 

Kim had many joys in life. She loved spending time with friends, family, but especially loved spending time with her mom, dad, brother Jason, and special niece “Jo”.  Kim loved the beauty of the outdoors. She loved fishing on the many lakes surrounding her home, 4-wheeler rides on the dusty trails and any activity that involved her beloved dogs, Gladys, Brandy, and the late beloved Daisy.  

Kim is survived by her parents: Jim and Karen Wettels of Ponsford, MN; brother Jason and niece Jolynn (Jo) of Park Rapids, MN; maternal grandmother Joan Eischens also of Park Rapids, MN, along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Kim was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Sylvester (Buster) Eischens, Paternal grandparents: John and Gladys Wettels, Aunt Nancy Eischens Thiede and Cousins: Lynn Wettels, Marlin and Bruce Miller,  and Annie Shearer
