John Craig McCormick

        John Craig McCormick, age 46, a long-time Park Rapids/Osage, MN area resident, unexpectedly but peacefully passed from this life to eternal life at his home in Osage on August 31, 2019.       John was born on January 23, 1973 in Auburn, Washington to Laura Rose McCormick-Miller.  As a small child, he moved with his family to Minneapolis where he attended public schools and grew into manhood.  As a young man, he ventured to Colorado for a time before going on to Washington State where he resided for a number of years. In 1997, John returned to Minnesota where he settled in the Park Rapids/Osage area.  It was there that he met and fell in love with Vanessa Tyge.  On April 14, 2000, they were united in marriage.  The young couple was blessed with three sons:  Gavin, Darrien, and Tristin.  The McCormick family made their home in Osage where they have lived to the present time.  John owned and operated the “Sure Fall Tree Service” for the past 11 years, serving customers in both Hubbard and Becker Counties.  John was a skilled chef and enjoyed using his talents to cook and entertain.  He enjoyed the outdoors and especially enjoyed hunting, fishing and ice fishing with his sons.  He was gifted mechanically and enjoyed helping others with fixing anything that was in disrepair.  John was a member of the Sons of the American Legion through the Otto Hendrickson American Legion Post #212 in Park Rapids.  John will be long remembered as a husband and father who devoted his life to his family who he loved with all his heart.       He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Vanessa of Osage;  his three sons: Gavin, Darrien and Tristin all of Osage; his brother, Jacob (Brandy) Sigle of Park Rapids, MN; his maternal grandmother, Millie Miller of Park Rapids; as well as many nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.       John was preceded in death by his mother and father; his maternal grandfather, Richard Miller, and his paternal grandmother, Donna McCormick as well as several aunts and uncles.       A celebration of John’s Life will be held 11 AM Friday, September 6, 2019 at the Otto Hendrickson American Legion Post #212. Visiting will begin one hour prior to the celebration.
