JAMES DUANE IHME August 11, 1942 ~ June 5, 2020 James Duane Ihme, age 77 of Sebeka, MN formerly of Menahga, MN went to be with the Lord on Friday, June 5, 2020 at CHI St. Joseph’s Hospital in Park Rapids, MN. James was born on August 11, 1942 in Park Rapids, MN to Nels and Anna (Parvi) Ihme. Jim was raised on a small farm west of Menahga in Runeberg Township. He attended the Upwood Country School near his home through the 8th grade. He then went on to attend the Menahga Public High School for 2 years. As a young man, James worked on his parent’s farm helping them for 25 years. In 1970, he moved to Minneapolis where he gained employment working as a cook for the Little Tijuana Café. He also worked as a Security Guard and in building maintenance for a time. In 1989, James returned to Menahga to care for his ailing mother. In September of 2010, he became a resident of Serenity Living Solutions in Sebeka. James loved the outdoors; especially when he could be hunting or fishing. Each spring he looked forward to planting a vegetable garden that he would nurture into fruitful abundance to share with family and friends. James’ outgoing friendly personality will be missed by all who knew him. His wonderfully hearty laughter was contagious to all around him. James is survived by his daughter, Julie (Bruno) Swanson of Park Rapids, MN; 3 grandsons: Jesse, Jeremy, and Tyler; 2 sisters: Shirley (Ken) Newhouse of Menahga, MN and Elaine (Russell) Jacob of Menahga, MN; 1 brother, Clifford Ihme of Otsego, MN; as well as numerous nieces, 1 nephew, other relatives and friends He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 sisters: Helmi Kinnunen, and Beatrice Goodmanson; 3 brothers: Robert, Donald and Arnie William; and 3 nieces: Lisa Romeo, Brenda Gordon, and Jody Ihme. Private family funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2020 at the Cardini-Pearson Funeral Home in Menahga with the Rev. Steven Koehne officiating. A public visitation will be held from 11 AM until noon prior to the family service at the funeral home. Interment will be made in the Menahga City Cemetery near his family.
