JACK LEE SHAW Jr.

November 16, 1985 – October 27, 2018

Jack Lee Shaw, Jr., age 32, a lifelong Park Rapids, MN area resident, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Park Rapids on Saturday, October 27, 2018.

Jack was born on November 16, 1985, in Salt Lake City, Utah to Jack and Carolynn (Lundberg) Shaw.  As a baby, he moved with his parents to Brooklyn Park, MN where they lived for three years.  Growing up, Jack had a close relationship with his older sister, Elizabeth and the two of them shared in many special times and filled their childhood days with much adventures and a pinch or two of mischief.  In 1989, the family moved to Park Rapids where Jack attended public schools, graduating from Park Rapids High School with the Class of 2005.  As a young man, Jack raced snowmobiles, participated in demolition derbies and enjoyed learning the skill of karate.  Jack earned his certificates in both welding and die casting.  He ventured to Thief River Falls where he worked for Artic Cat Enterprises for a time.  Later, he returned to Park Rapids where he worked for his step-father, David Bitker in his moving and construction business for many years.  Jack fell in love with his sweetheart, Carissa Mikesh and the two were soulmates for seven years.  They were blessed with three sons: Ryley, Blaze, and Diesel.  Jack had a special love for his dog, “Bubbles”, who loved to ride with him on his moped scooter all over town and when Jack had to go into a store or other business, Bubbles would stay with the moped patiently awaiting Jack’s return.  The dog’s unconditional love for his master was a great example of being man’s best friend.  Jack’s love for cars was a driving passion in his life.  He enjoyed putting on drifting exhibitions for all to watch at the Brainerd International Speedway.  Above all, Jack treasured the time he could spend with his family and friends and was always there to help those in need.

He will be lovingly remembered by his partner, Carissa Mikesh and their three sons: Ryley, Blaze and Diesel; his mother, Carolynn Lundberg of Park Rapids and his father, Jack (Pamela) Shaw Sr. of Fargo; his four sisters: Elizabeth Shaw of Coon Rapids, MN, Anna Shaw and Tracy Shaw both of Fargo and LeAnn (Michael) Grathwohl of Ramsey, MN; his niece, Olivia Olson of Coon Rapids; as well as other relatives and many friends.

Jack was preceded in death by his grandparents; his brother, Garett Lundberg; his Aunt Sandy and five uncles: Bill, Ralph, Kim, David, and Anah.

Funeral services will be held 5 PM Saturday, November 3, 2018 at the Assembly of God Church in Park Rapids with the Reverend Tim Wilson officiating.  Kjersten Schmid will be the organist.  Longtime family friend, Dr. Vern Erickson will be the soloist and will be accompanied by his wife, Sharon.  Casket bearers will be his friends: Trenton Greenlee, Andrew Carmichael, Logan Ellenson, Lonnie Ellenson, Matt Skadberg, and Josh Elsner.  The honorary casket bearers will be his sons: Ryley Voght, Blaze Shaw, Diesel Shaw, and his niece, Olivia Olson.  Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service.  Following the service, a luncheon will be hosted by the Assembly of God Church family.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
