Helen Barr

Helen Barr. Age 83 and a long-time area resident, passed away on Tuesday, July 25, at the Good Samaritan Society – Battle Lake, MN. Helen was born on December 2, 1939 in Pine River, MN to Albert and Esther (Larsen) Thoreson. She attended public school in Park Rapids until graduating with the Class of 1958. On September 21, 1958, she was united in marriage to Donald Barr in Park Rapids. She was blessed with 3 sons: Jeff, Ken, and Guy. She devoted herself to making a loving home for her family. She also worked out of the home as a nursing assistant in the hospital and nursing home. She loved to garden, shop, and go to the Casino when time allowed, but above all she loved to fish. She will be lovingly remembered by her 3 sons: Jeff (Bonnie) Barr of Park Rapids; Kenny (Suzie) Barr of Park Rapids; Guy (Denise) Barr of Park Rapids; 5 dearly loved grandchildren: Kenneth, Gabie, Isaac, Julia and Holly; 1 sister, Betty Holte of Park Rapids; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Donald in 2021, 2 brothers and 1 sister: Richard Thoreson, Nileen Gully, Terry Thoreson and her parents. Celebration of Life will be held on Friday August 25th, at 4:30-630 at the Hubbard Community Center.
