HARRIET V. GREEN “Nana”    “Gus” April 28, 1924 – April 9, 2019                   Harriet Virginia Green, affectionately known as “Nana” or “Gus”, peacefully entered the glorious splendor of Heaven at her home surrounded by her loved ones on Tuesday, April 9, 2019 just three weeks short of her 95th birthday.                 Harriet was born on April 28, 1924 in Minneapolis, MN to Arvid and Mabel (Olson) Westlund.  She attended the Morningside Elementary and Jefferson & West High Schools in Minneapolis before moving with her family to Park Rapids and finishing her education graduating from Park Rapids High School in 1942.  Harriet worked in her father's store, A.L. Westlund Jewelry her senior year and the following two years before venturing to California to be close to Solon whose wedding leave was canceled. She gained employment working as a secretary for the Victorville Finance Company and later worked for Ringer Manufacturing/Munsingwear and the Bell Telephone Company in Park Rapids, MN.  On August 31, 1944, Harriet was united in marriage to Solon A. Green in Victorville, CA.  Their union was blessed with three children:  Jeff, Jan and Jacie.  Harriet devoted herself to making a loving home for her husband and children.  She was a wonderful cook who will be long remembered for her delicious homemade cooking and hosting friends and Solon’s business associates.  In addition, Harriet immersed herself in her community.  She was an active member of the Riverside United Methodist Church, the PARAMI, the Dansant Dance Club and Eastern Star. For many years she served as both Girl Scout and Boy Scout Troop Leader and was a charter member in Chapter FJ of P.E.O. Sisterhood.  Harriet was a gifted bridge player and enjoyed participating in several bridge clubs.  Her life was deeply saddened with the death of an infant son, Gregory in 1949, her brother, Chuck in 2006 and her dearly beloved husband, Solon in 2009.                 Harriet will be lovingly remembered by her son, Jeff (Sandy) Green of Park Rapids; her two daughters:  Jan (Don) Rumpza of Park Rapids and Jacie (Greg) Ward of Bemidji; 11 dearly loved grandchildren; 20 precious great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter with a great great grandson arriving in July (2019).  She is also survived by two sisters:  June Jorgenson of Big Fork, MT and Betty Jorgenson of Colorado Springs, CO; one brother, Dick Westlund of Colorado Springs, CO; one aunt, Florence Hensel of Park Rapids, MN; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.                 The Celebration of Life will be held 2 PM Sunday, April 28th, 2019 on what would have been her 95th birthday, at Riverside United Methodist Church in Park Rapids with the Rev. Chip Nielson officiating.  Visitation will begin one hour prior to the celebration. Following the celebration, Harriet will be placed in her final resting place next to Solon in the RUMC Memorial Garden Columbarium. A luncheon will be hosted by the Riverside United Methodist Church family. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Riverside Memorial Garden, Cottey College, Headwaters Animal Shelter or the Park Rapids Area Community Band.    To leave online condolences or to view the tribute video please visit www.jonespearson.com
