Geraldine Marie Jensen

Geraldine “Gerry” Marie (Berthelsen) Jensen, age 90, of Park Rapids, MN, passed on Saturday, July 27, 2024, at Essentia Hospital in Fargo, ND. 

Geraldine Berthelsen was born on November 30, 1933, in Minneapolis, MN, the daughter of the late Henry and Pearl (Torrey) Berthelson. She was raised in Minneapolis, MN, and attended Roosevelt High School. Afterwards, she went to work on a family farm near Viborg, SD. It was there that she met Kermit Jensen and they were wed in December of 1950. The couple made their home in Viborg until 1962 when they moved to Minneapolis. It was at this time that she started working for Univac, now known as Unisys. She retired as a supervisor from Unisys in 1990 and she and Kermit retired to their lake home in Park Rapids, MN, where she lived ever since. In her youth she enjoyed snowmobiling and riding motorcycles. She and Kermit greatly enjoyed the outdoors and traveling, fishing in Michigan and Canada and spending winters in Texas and Arizona. She also enjoyed going to the casino and entertaining her friends and family. 

Geraldine is survived by her son, Bradley; grandchildren, Garrett (Amanda), Bradley (Kaye), and Martina (Forest); great-grandchildren, Haile, Haley (Ethan), Ashley (Dima), Allie, Ava, and Evan; great-great-granddaughter, Etta; and sister, Loretta; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Roger; sisters, Beverly and Sharon; and brother, James. 

Inurnment for Geraldine will be on Friday, August 16, 2024, at 10:30 am at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Bloomington, MN. Attendees need to arrive no later than 10:15 am.
