Gerald (Jerry) Keith Harvey passed away peacefully in his home in Lake George on November 8, 2018 at the age of 78. He was born in Bemidji Minnesota on October 27, 1940 to Jerome and Esther (Johannsen) Harvey. He started his education in the one room school-house in Lake George, transferring to Laporte in the third grade, graduating in 1958. He met the love of his life Barbara Stillings at her parent’s Lake George resort and they were united in marriage on May 7, 1960 at the Guthrie Catholic Church. They were blessed with seven children; Leslie Harvey, Lynn (Don) Smith, Jeraldine Harvey, Jennifer Harvey, Jeff Harvey, Joan Miller, and Jon Harvey. To support his growing family, he worked long hours in a variety of jobs to include siding houses, carpenter, logging, road and building construction, farming, bus driver, drove gas tankers and hauled other cargo as an over the road truck driver. He was also a member of the Lake George Volunteer Fire Department for 29 years, serving as the Fire Chief for some of them. Upon retiring from the workforce in 2005 he was able to spend more time with his wife and enjoyed woodworking, hunting, fishing, traveling, and farming. He enjoyed his daily visit with friends for morning coffee and catching up on local events. He is remembered by many for his stories and words of wisdom. Jerry is survived by his children, five grandchildren; Matthew Harvey, Nicole (Dan) Curtis, Justin, Jared, and Lindsay Miller; one great-granddaughter Alexis Curtis, sister Shirley (Lyle) Zubke, sisters-in-law Joyce Harvey and Mary White and his brother-in-law Donny (Carol) Stillings. He is preceded in death by his wife, parents, in-laws; Richard and Camilla Stillings, brother; Robert Harvey, grandson; Benjamin Smith, brothers-in-law; Ronald White and Dennis Transgrud and sister-in-law; Cathy Transgrud. There will be a funeral mass at St. Theodore’s Catholic Church in Laporte on Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at 2:30 p.m, visitation one hour before. Interment will be in the Lake George Cemetery at a later date.
