Eugene "Gene" Louis Boyd

Eugene Louis Boyd, age 83, a long time Osage area resident, died on Wednesday, November 15,2023 in the comfort of his own home with his loving family at this side. Gene was born on October 25, 1940, as a twin, to his parents Homer and Ivas (Brown) Boyd on their farm in Lake Alice Township. He attended the Arago Country School where he completed his public-school education. As a teenager he moved with his family to Park Rapids, MN. As a young man he hauled cattle for the Howard Warmbold Trucking Co. He later moved to the iron range where he worked in the mines for a time. At the age of 28, he began a new career working as a lineman for Emblom Brothers, where he was employed for 40 years. Gene’s first marriage was blessed with four children: Sandra, Ronnie, Pam and Roger. He was married to Lorna Jensen on August 28, 1987, and at that time two more children were added to the family, Chad and William. Gene loved farm field work and spent many hours each summer out in the fields cutting hay. He especially enjoyed operating the Versatile tractor. He also enjoyed being out in the woods logging. In his spare time, he loved to buy and sell farm equipment. He was preceded in death by his wife Lorna on May 21st, 2014. He continued to make his home in the country right up until the time of his own death. Gene will be lovingly remembered by his children: Sandra (LeRoy) Paulson of Osage, Ronnie Boyd of Lake Park, MN, Pam (Fran) Hauber of Park Rapids, Chad Jensen of Anoka and William (Teresa) Jensen of Osage, MN; 12 dearly loved grandchildren: Kim, Stephanie, Nikki, DeAnna, Dominic, Dale, Tony, Laine, Jacob, Kayla, Madison and Isaac; 13 precious great grandchildren; his siblings: Bob Boyd of Bemidji, Ethel Knowles of Park Rapids, Carl Boyd of Osage, Judy (Jim)Parr of Washington State. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lorna; his son, Roger who died in 1992; his siblings: Eleanor Hetrick, Jo Breitbach, Vera Gails, James Boyd, Alvin Boyd, Floyd Boyd, his twin sister Eunice and Dale Boyd. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Monday, November 20, 2023, at the Grace Community Church of Osage with Rev. Paul McKibben officiating. Honorary casket bearers are: Wes Hall, Arnie Heller, Bob Deitchler, Vance Gray and Lyle Edelman. Visitation will be at the Jones-Pearson Funeral Home on Sunday, November 19 from 4PM to 7PM and will continue at the church Monday morning at 10 AM. Interment will be made in the Riverside Cemetery of Osage.
