Elmer Stanley Ohlgren, 89, of Menahga, Minnesota died January 14, 2021, at the Green Pine Acres Nursing Home in Menahga. Elmer was born to Arthur and Elvina (Hovin) Ohlgren on February 12, 1931, at home in Shell River Township. He attended District 16 country school. In 1952, he was drafted into the U.S. Army. He was stationed in Berlin, Germany during the Korean conflict. After receiving his honorable discharge, he began his career with DM (Duluth-Missabe) and IR (Iron Range) railroad. He worked for the railroad for 34 years. He married Irene Newhouse in 1962 and they were married until her death. After retirement, his hobby was collecting and tinkering with tractors, primarily John Deeres. He belonged to the Two-Cylinder Club in Wadena, Minnesota, and was a member of the Park Rapids Antique Tractor and Engine Club. He was also a car and truck enthusiast. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 20, 2021, at 11:00 AM for family and 12:00 PM for the public at the Cardini-Pearson Funeral Home in Menahga, Minnesota. A graveside service, 2:00 PM, will take place at the Jim Cook Cemetery.
