Edna L. Edwards of Nevis, MN, formerly of Chambers, NE passed away peacefully at Diamond Willow Assisted Living in Park Rapids, MN on March 19, 2024, with her family and friends with her. She was born August 24, 1931 at home near Chambers, NE to W. Elvin and O. Lucille (Bartlett) Martin. As a child she moved with her family to South Fork, MO. The family moved back to Chambers, NE in 1935. In 1949 Edna moved to Park Rapids, MN with her family.
April 26, 1950 Edna was united in marriage to Charles W. Edwards at the Methodist Church Parsonage in Park rapids, MN. After spending a few days in Minnesota, the newlyweds returned home to Chambers to the Lyman Robertson Ranch where Charles’ three young children, Ardell, Garald, and Vietta, awaited their return. In 1950 Edna became a member of the Memorial Baptist church in Chambers.
In April 1958, Charles and Edna moved their family to Nevis, MN. There, Edna made a warm and loving home for her husband and children, which grew to include sons Loy, Russell, and Rick. Edna had a large vegetable garden, strawberry patch, raised chickens, and many house plants that occupied her days. She also sewed quilts and painted ceramics to give as gifts. Her passion was keeping track of her family with many photos, scrapbooks, and genealogy and above all, spending time with her family and friends, at picnic gatherings and other social events.
Edna is survived by her children: Loy Edwards ( Mary Thorsgaard) of Nevis, Russell (Marlys) Edwards of Horntown, VA, Rick (Kathy) Edwards of Nevis, Garald (Sharon) Edwards of Nevis, Vietta Hamm of Menahga, and Pat Edwards of Nevis; son-in-law Ralph Mass of Chambers. She has 20 grandchildren, 46+ great-grandchildren, and 33+ great-great-grandchildren. One sister, Carol Worster of Park Rapids, and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Special acknowledgement to Dr. Chris Singer of Detroit Lakes, whom Edna always called her adopted son and very special friend from Diamond Willow, Evie Eischens of Park Rapids.
She is Preceded in death by her husband, Charles, her parents, her daughter Ardell Maas, granddaughter Marian Wecker, her brother, Dale Martin, and three sisters: Dorothy Mikus, Zelda Breitweser, and Hope Long.
