DREW ALAN HUNTZIGER November 2, 1951 – June 11, 2019 Drew Alan Huntziger, age 67, a long time Park Rapids, MN area resident, unexpectedly entered eternity on Tuesday, June 11, 2019 at his home in Lake Emma Township. Drew was born on November 2, 1951 in Chicago, IL to Eugene and Verna (Burnham) Huntziger. He attended public schools in Worth, IL, a suburb of Chicago until age 17 when his family moved to Park Rapids, MN. He completed his final year of high school in Park Rapids where he graduated with the Class of 1969. As a young man, Drew ventured to Minneapolis where he worked for a time. Drew later returned to Park Rapids where he gained employment working for the Daggett Truck Line of Frazee as an over the road truck driver for many years. He was united in marriage to Brenda Burkle on May 7, 1983. They were blessed with three children: Meagan, Mandy, and Dustin. Drew’s career with Daggett continued for many years and he was proud to have driven over 1,000,000 accident-free miles while with the company. Later, Drew grew tired of spending so much time on the road away from home and began a new career working for Americold Logistics in Park Rapids. He devoted 11 years to the company until retiring in 2009. Drew enjoyed making his home in the beauty of Lake Emma Township. He loved the outdoors, especially teaching his son how to hunt and fish. He was an avid sports fan who enjoyed following all types of college and professional sports on television. He loved spending time working in his gardens each summer raising a variety of beautiful flowers into colorful splendor. He also enjoyed cooking, baking, and entertaining family and friends. He loved animals; especially his chocolate lab, Griz. He will be lovingly remembered by his three children: Meagan Ashley (Henry) Huntziger of Sauk Rapids, MN, Mandy Diane Huntziger of Kalispell, MT., and Dustin (Drew) Huntziger of Crystal, MN; his five precious grandchildren: Emma Kay, Kaitlyn Lee, Lacey Lynn, Cooper Alan and Emmett Drew; his brother, Craig Huntziger of Park Rapids and his sister, Cindy Blanchard of Staples, MN; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Drew was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Verna Huntziger. A celebration of Drew’s life will be held 11 AM Monday, June 17, 2019 at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church in Park Rapids with Deacon John Zinniel officiating. The music will be led by Annette Haas. The urn bearers will be his three children: Meagan, Mandy, and Dustin. Interment will be made in the Lake Emma Cemetery near his home.
