DORIS LORENE GRANT September 6, 1926 – September 12, 2020 Doris Lorene Grant, age 94, a long time Sebeka, MN area resident, peacefully passed into the splendor of Heaven in the early morning hours of Saturday, September 12, 2020 at the Providence Villa Assisted Living Home in Sebeka. Doris was born on September 6, 1926 in Maynard, MN to Fred and Amanda (Christianson) Uttermark. At the age of 6, she moved with her family to a farm north of Sebeka. It was there that she attended the Sebeka Public School and grew into womanhood. In 1945, she was married to James McKinnis and they were blessed with a daughter, Connie. They made their home in Bellbuckle, Tennessee until 1949, when Doris returned to Sebeka with her young daughter and began working for the Sebeka Cleaners. In 1952, she was married to Wayne Grant and they were blessed with two more daughters: Laura and Deb; and a son, Kenneth. Doris devoted herself to making a warm and loving home for her husband and daughters. She was a wonderful cook and baker who will be long remembered for her delicious homemade Christmas cookies, cakes, and candies. Each spring, she looked forward to planting a large vegetable garden which she worked hard in nurturing into fruitful abundance to preserve for her growing family. She also enjoyed raising beautiful flowers into colorful splendor for all to see and enjoy. Doris enjoyed working with her hands doing all sorts of needlework, crocheting, and quilting many gifts for her family and friends. For many years she was a faithful member of the Menahga Assembly of God Church where she enjoyed worship and fellowship. Above all, Doris will be remembered for the sacrificial and unconditional love she freely gave to her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Doris will be lovingly remembered by her three daughters: Connie (Gerald) Rhoades of Spencer, WI, Laura Murray of Marshfield, WI, and Debra (Markus) Wehlert of Sebeka; her 13 dearly loved grandchildren: David Grant, Susan Lee, Jennifer Kohls, James Rhoades, Joel Rhoades, Stacey Daniel, Shawn Lilienthal, Jamie Kangas and Kayla Campbell; 26 precious great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren; her sister, Mae Uttermark of Sebeka and her brother, Robert Uttermark of Aberdeen, South Dakota; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Doris was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wayne; her step-son, Kenny; her three grandsons: Tim Grant, Joshua Kangas, and Jeffrey Rhoades; one great-grandson; her five sisters: Betty, Fern, Dottie, Ruthanne and a sister in infancy; as well as four brothers: Ollie, Ervin, Mark, and Virgil. Memorial services will be held August 21, 2021, at 1:00 pm, at Menahga Assembly of God Church. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service and lunch to follow.
