Dean Walter Christianson was born to Kent & Lola Christianson on April 30, 1953, in Park Rapids, MN. After a long battle with cancer, he passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 13, with his family by his side. He was raised on the family farm on the Ponsford prairie, attending school in Park Rapids graduating with the Class of 1972. As a young man, Dean (aka Boz) played softball, enjoyed hunting with family and raising cain with his best friend Jimmy. He farmed alongside his father for many years. In 1982, along with his brothers David and Doug they built a new barn and expanded the dairy operation. They milked cows until failing health forced him to retire. In 1993 he married Louise and became the proud stepfather of a crazy, but fun family. Dean, along with that crazy family, enjoyed playing cards (every Monday at Tiffs), casino trips and weekly visits with friends and relatives. The annual Labor Day family celebration was also another highlight for him – he enjoyed the bonfires, beers, music and so much laughter. In later years he always found time for family, hunting, and even a few more (though milder) escapades with Jimmy. He lived life to the fullest, in spite of failing health, and always had a positive attitude. Dean took such good care of Louise as she faced health issues, always with a laugh and a smile.
He is survived by his loving wife, Louise; stepchildren Kathy (Dan) Pachel, Brenda (Ken) Tretbar, Terry (Jan) Burlingame, Sue Burlingame, and Scott Burlingame. Siblings, David, Dennis (Jackie), Doug and Janice (Dale Solberg), nephews Kent (Pam) Christianson, Kyle (Anna) Christianson, and nieces Kim (Keith) Lapinoja, Amber and Ash Solberg. 19 step grandchildren and 35 great step grandchildren, 4 great nephews, 2 great nieces, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Preceded in death by his parents, Kent and Lola and his grandparents.
