Darlene Joyce Hinton, age 80, of Park Rapids, Minnesota entered Heaven’s Gate on March 4, 2022. Darlene Joyce Hinton was born on August 10, 1941, in Park Rapids, Minnesota to Calvin and Laverna (Paulson) Shaver. It was in Straight River Township area that Darlene attended the Potter Country School through the 7th grade and then went on to attend high school in Park Rapids from where she graduated with the Class of 1959. As a young woman, Darlene worked for Ringer Manufacturing for a number of years as a seamstress. On April 9, 1960, Darlene was united in marriage to Darrel Lewis Hinton in Park Rapids. This union was blessed with 2 children: David and Jody. The young family made their home in Park Rapids where Darlene devoted herself to making a warm and loving home for her husband and children. In addition to caring for her family, Darlene worked in helping her husband in their electrical contracting business. She also worked as a salesclerk and did bookkeeping for Bishop’s Department Store. Later she worked as a salesclerk and bookkeeper for Lampert’s Lumber Company in Park Rapids. For several years, Darlene worked as a dispatcher and receptionist at the Park Rapids Plumbing & Heating Company. Later she worked in the bakery at Dave & Earl’s grocery store for a time until going to work at J & B Foods where she worked in the Health & Beauty Aids Departments of both stores and worked at the checkout counter. Darlene loved the out of doors; especially when she could be out deer hunting or partridge hunting with her husband. In her quiet times, Darlene enjoyed knitting and crossword puzzles. Throughout her life, Darlene was a voracious reader who loved to read anything she could get her hands on. Darlene was a faithful member of the St. Peters Catholic Church and the Otto Hendrickson American Legion Post #178 Auxiliary. Above all, Darlene dedicated her life to her husband, her children, and her grandchildren who she loved with all her heart. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Jody (Andy) Klein of Park Rapids; her son, David Hinton of Park Rapids; three grandchildren: Crystal, Cory and Tiffany; thirteen great grandchildren; one brother: Larry Shaver of Park Rapids; as well as several nieces, nephews and other relatives. Darlene was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Darwin, one sister: Cheryl and her husband, Darrel on January 28, 2001.
