Darlene JoAnne Hansen

Darlene JoAnne (Dalen) Hansen (age 74) of Akeley, MN went to be with the Lord on March 3, 2022 after a short illness at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Park Rapids, MN. Her husband, Harvey, was lovingly by her side until the end. Darlene was born on May 23, 1947 in Hennepin County, MN to Selmer and Florence (Peterson) Dalen. Her family later moved to Akeley, MN where she graduated from high school in 1965. She married her best friend, Harvey Hansen, on January 2, 1981. They moved their family to Oklahoma in 1984. Over the years they raised sheep, horses and various other animals on a farm. They loved nature and seeing God’s creativity through farm life. During the twenty years that they lived in Oklahoma, many lifelong friends were made. In 2004, they decided to travel around and enjoyed visiting various family members, friends and staying in different places until 2012. At that time they decided to settle down in Akeley, MN where they purchased a small home. During her lifetime, Darlene enjoyed quilting, crocheting and watching John Wayne movies. Darlene’s family will miss her, but have the assurance of her salvation in Jesus Christ and that one day they will see her again in Heaven. Darlene is survived by her husband Harvey Hansen of MN; her son James (Sherene) Nauber; her daughter Dawn (Bill Gray) Nauber; grandchildren - Jessica (Brandon) Heinen, Erica (John) Bray, Liam Gray, and Addisyn Gray, all of OK; and stepchildren - Scott (Glenda) Hansen of TX; Chris Hansen of MN, Robin (Tim) Hansen-Bollin of MN, and Evan (Christine) Hansen of MD; 12 step-grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father Selmer Dalen, her mother Florence Ridlon and her sister Ella Mae Skoog. A private family memorial service will later be held to honor Darlene’s life and legacy.
