Claudia Elizabeth Todd

Claudia Elizabeth Todd, age 84 of Canby, MN, formerly a lifelong Park Rapids, MN area resident, peacefully entered the full glory and splendor of Heaven on Thursday evening, December 3, 2020, at her home in Canby with her daughter, Becky, and her granddaughter, Shanna at her side. Claudia was born on September 17, 1936, in Park Rapids, MN to George A. and Magdalene (Steele) Hinton. She attended public schools in Park Rapids, MN where she grew into womanhood and graduated from the Park Rapids High School with the Class of 1954. As a young woman, Claudia ventured to Minneapolis where she worked for a time. She returned to Park Rapids and gained employment at the Park Rapids Theatre. It was there that she met a young projectionist, Paul L. Todd. The young couple fell in love and were married on July 16, 1960, at St. Peters Catholic Church in Park Rapids. They were blessed with five children: Dennis, Becky, Alan, Jon, and Ricky. Claudia devoted herself to making a loving home for her husband and children. She was a wonderful cook and baker who will be long remembered for her wonderful homemade casseroles and her wonderfully personalized birthday cakes she made to celebrate her children’s birthdays each year which she celebrated by organizing legendary parties which made each of her children’s birthdays full of magical memories. Each spring she would plant a large vegetable garden which she nurtured into a fruitful abundance to help meet the needs of her growing family. After her children were on their own Claudia began a 22-year career working for L & M Fleet Supply in customer service. She was a lifelong member of St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church where she enjoyed doing craft work for the church. She also enjoyed raising beautiful flowers into colorful splendor for all to see and enjoy. Claudia found special joy in feeding and watching the birds and wildlife that graced their property. On April 9, 2013, Claudia experienced the heartbreak of losing her soulmate and husband, Paul, who she was married to for 53 years. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Becky (Jim Schmidt) Todd of Canby; her four sons: Dennis (Elke) Todd of Alabama, Alan (Paula) Todd of Raleigh-Durham, NC, Jon (Kristy) Todd of Grand Rapids, MI, and Ricky (Kelli) Todd of New Brighton, MN; ten precious grandchildren; Claudia especially cherished the close special relationship she had over the years with her granddaughter, Shanna; nine dearly loved great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends. Claudia was preceded in death by her parents; her two brothers: Darrel and Larry; her husband Paul and one grandson, Dale in 2015. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM Saturday, December 12, 2020, at the St. Peter The Apostle Catholic Church in Park Rapids with Father Thomas Friedl officiating. Annette Haas will provide mass music. Interment will be made in the St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery next to her husband, Paul.
