ARLENE M. SEIKKULA August 20, 1932- October 30, 2020 Arlene M. Seikkula, age 88, a lifelong Menahga, MN area resident, peacefully passed from this life to eternal life in the early morning hours of Friday, October 30th, 2020 at the Green Pine Acres Nursing Home in Menahga. Arlene was born on August 20, 1932 in Shell River Township of Wadena County east of Menahga to Everett and Saima (Kangas) Maaninga. She attended the District #43 Country School near where she grew up. As a young woman, she helped with the many tasks needing to be done on a family farm. On June 11, 1949, she was united in marriage to Eddie Erick Seikkula and they were blessed with three children: Bobby, Nancy, and Howard. Arlene devoted herself to making a loving home for her husband and children. She was a wonderful baker and a very gifted seamstress. She would often work late into the night sewing dresses, shirts, coats, and other articles of clothing for her growing family. She also did beautiful embroidery work. In the 1960’s she bought a loom and taught herself how to loom beautiful rugs. Arlene passed this passion and skill on to her son, Bobby, and her love for sewing onto her daughter, Nancy. Arlene was a woman of faith who loved to worship and attend services at the United Methodist Church, The First English Lutheran Church, and Redeemer Lutheran Church all of Menahga. She loved the outdoors and especially enjoyed taking her kids to their dark house on Stocking Lake where they lived for many years and teaching them how to Spear. Arlene will be lovingly remembered by her three children: Bobby Seikkula of Menahga, Nancy (Mike) Brolin of Backus, MN and Howard Seikkula of Belfourche, South Dakota; her four dearly loved grandchildren: Kristine, Ellen, Edward and Levi, and her four precious great-grandchildren: Kate, Gabe, Jada, and Rena; her six siblings: Ellen Ruona of Menahga, Harlin (Judy) Maaninga of Menahga, Carolyn (Robert) Condon of AZ, Alice Kako of Menahga, Jeanie Tomperi of Menahga and Verdie Maaninga of Park Rapids; as well as many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Eddie in 1977; and her two sisters: Luella Gustafson and Mavis Kussatz. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Thursday, November 5, 2020 at the First English Lutheran Church in Menahga with the Reverend James Hallaway officiating. The organist will be Kris Spadgenske. Casket bearers will be: Ellen Brolin, Edward Brolin, Levi Seikkula, Tim Hendrickson, Gave Hendrickson, and Alex Herrera Seikkula. Interment will be made in the Jim Cook Cemetery.
