Ann Margaret Wagner, age 84, a lifetime Park Rapids, MN area resident, peacefully passed into the precious arms of Jesus on Wednesday, April 28, 2021, just two days short of her 85th birthday, at her home with her loving husband at her side. Ann was born on April 30, 1936 in Bremerton, WA to John and Amelia (Dubuque) Glatzmaier. Her dad was serving in the United States Navy and was transferred along with his wife and family to Indianapolis where he underwent special Naval skills training, and it was there that Ann began her formal schooling. At the young age of 7, Ann went to live with her grandmother north of Park Rapids. She attended country school through the 8th grade and then went on to attend high school in Park Rapids where she graduated with the Class of 1955. On October 22, 1955, Ann was married to Melvin Parkos and they were blessed with seven children: Sherry, Martin, Steven, Suzette, Duane, Melanie, and Angela. They made their home in Park Rapids where Ann devoted herself to making a loving home for her family. She was a wonderful cook and baker who will be long remembered for her delicious barbeque ribs, Fried chicken, and many other homemade dishes. When her children were older, Ann resumed working as a nursing assistant at the CHI St. Joseph’s Hospital from 1975 – 1984 as she did before she was married. Ann worked at the Green Pine Acres Nursing Home from the mid-1980’s until her retirement in 2001. On November 19, 1988, Ann was united in marriage to Robert William Wagner. The two spent many happy years together at their home in Park Rapids. Ann loved to work with her hands knitting many gifts for her family and friends. She also kept herself busy with volunteer work and helping others. She was a long time and faithful member of St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church in Park Rapids where she was active in the Catholic Foresters group. Above all, Ann devoted herself to her husband, Bob and her children who she loved with all her heart. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Bob of Park Rapids; her children: Sherry Lewis of Ogden, Utah, Steven Parkos of Park Rapids, Melanie (Chad) Buscho of Falls City, WA, and Angie (Tim) Rice of Bellingham, WA; her three step-sons: David Wagner of Basalt, CO, Daniel Wagner of Pierre, SD, and Terry Wagner near Sioux Falls, SD; her 2 precious grandchildren: two sisters: Gloria (Frank) Michlizzi of Duluth, MN and Lori Lea Crep of Park Rapids; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Ann was preceded in death by her first husband, Melvin; her children: Duane, Martin, and Suzette her sister, Marie and two brothers: John and Bart. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Monday, May 10, 2021 at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church with Father Tom Friedl officiating. Interment will be made in the St. Peter’s Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 PM Sunday, May 9, 2021.
