  Alfred R. "Al" Kable September 1, 1925 – May 26, 2019               Alfred R. "Al" Kable, age 93, of Osage, MN passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Sunday, May 26, 2019, at the Heritage Living Center in Park Rapids, MN.             Alfred R. "Al" Kable was born on September 1, 1925, in Cedar, MN, to Rolland and Flora (Pontius) Kable.  It was in this same area that he attended country school and grew into manhood.  As a young man, Al proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II in the Pacific Theatre of war in the 25 th Division of the 160 th Regiment from 1943 until his honorable discharge in 1945.  After the war, Al returned home and gained employment with the Soo Line Railroad where he worked as a welder for 10 years.  In 1952, Al was married to Pat Morris in Osseo, MN.  They were blessed with three children: Stephen, Sharon, and Stuart.  They made their home in the Cedar area.  Later he gained employment with Northern Ordinance in Fridley, MN where he built 5” automatic guns and missile launchers.  In 1960, Al advanced his career by joining on with Hoffman Engineering in Anoka, MN in a career that spanned over 27 years until his retirement in 1987.  On July 30, 1972, he was united in marriage to Erna A. Schielke in Haver, MT.  They made their home in Cedar for several years before moving to Princeton where they lived for 16 years.  In 1987, Al and Erna moved to Osage, MN where Al had built a new home on beautiful Straight Lake.  Here Al has resided until October 2016 when they moved to Park Rapids.             Al was active in his community; he was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Park Rapids, the Osage Lions Club where he had served as president and was elected as a Melvin Jones Fellow in 1998.  He was a member of the Osage Sportsman Club; the Otto Hendrickson American Legion Post and the Osage Environmental Association.  Al enjoyed the out of doors; especially when he could be hunting and fishing.  He enjoyed working with his hands doing carpenter work and helping others.  Above all, he dedicated his life to his family whom he loved with all his heart.             He will be lovingly remembered by his wife and soulmate Erna, who enjoyed 47 years of marriage; his six children: Judy (Dennis) Strange, Roy (Colleen) Mueller, Dennis (Ruth) Mueller, Stephen Kable, Sharon Kable, and Stuart Kable; and several grandchildren.              Al was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers: Gilbert, and infants Roy and Floyd; and five sisters: Edith, Myrtle, Blanch, Dorothy and Irene.             Funeral services will be held 11 AM Saturday, June 1, 2019, at the St. John’s Lutheran Church, Park Rapids, MN with Rev. James Neubauer and Rev. Joel Newton officiating.  Mary Harvala will serve as the organist.  Visitation will begin one hour prior to the services at the church on Saturday.  Interment will be in the Riverside Cemetery, Osage, MN.             To leave online condolences or to view the video tribute please visit www.jonespearson.com
