WRIGHTApril 18, 1918 " November 9, 2008 Dorothy Evelyn Wright, age 90 of Menahga, MN, formerly of Osage, MN, passed away Sunday, November 9, 2008 at Rose Haven Home in Menahga with her family by her side. Dorothy was born on April 18, 1918 in rural Becker County to John and Martha (Jacobson) Nygaard. She attended Tamarack Country School near her home. As a young woman, Dorothy helped on her parent"s farm where she met Roy Wright who also worked for her parents. She was united in marriage to Roy on April 3, 1937 at her parent"s home in Grand Park Twp., Becker County, MN. This union was blessed with eight children: Sharon, Jerome, Diane, Ricky, Dennis, Cheryl, Jim and Jeweleen. In 1941, Dorothy and Roy moved their family to Los Angeles, CA. Roy worked for Douglas Aircraft and Dorothy baked fruit cakes and did washing and ironing. They saved every penny to return to Minnesota. In 1945, they moved to their farm in rural Osage, MN. Roy often worked jobs that took him away from the farm for a week at a time so day to day operations became Dorothy"s responsibility. Dorothy resided on the farm until moving to Rose Haven Home in Menahga in 2007. She loved to garden and took joy in her flowers, ones that she grew outside in the summer, and seemingly hundreds that she raised inside during the winter. Until her eyesight failed, she made quilts for all her children, grandchildren and most of her great-grandchildren. She took a keen interest in the happenings on the farm that Jerome and Dennis now operate. Her special happiness was having family gatherings at her home. She would cook, bake and clean for weeks in preparation for one of these events. Dorothy is survived by her eight children: Sharon Eischens of Minneapolis, MN, Jerome (Debra), Diane (Lyle) Hildebrandt, Dennis (Beverly) all of rural Osage, Cheryl (Steve) Schmidt of Waubun, MN, Ricky (Joanne), Jim (Brenda) of Park Rapids, and Jewel (Peter) Engstrom of Waconia, MN; 22 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren; and 1 (soon to be 2) great great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Roy in 1993; son-in-law, Thomas Eischens; 4 great grandsons; her parents; 2 brothers and 5 sisters.
