FUNERAL SERVICES: 2 P.M., Wednesday, November 19, 2008 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Lake George VISITATION: 5-6:30 P.M., Tuesday, November 19, 2008 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Lake George INTERMENT: Lake George Cemetery ALVIN "Buck" MORGANSONSeptember 7, 1920 " November 14, 2008 The angels carried long time Lake George resident Alvin (Buck/Red) Morganson home to the Lord on the 14th of November, 2008. His Journey from this life was peaceful, filled with love and caring from his family and all the angels of Maple Lane and Havenwood. He was born in Fort Dodge, Iowa on the 9th of September 1920 to Albert and Myrtle Morganson. In 1934 the family moved to a farm at Lake George, MN. On October 11th, 1956 he married Janice Smith, who preceded him in death on the 8th of January, 2008. Together they owned the Standard Station and Caf in Lake George. Alvin proudly served his country with the US Army during World War II as a front line ambulance driver and was the recipient of The Bronze Star. His life also included time in the CCC"s, work as a lumberjack, truck driver, and slasher operator. Alvin enjoyed hunting and fishing, meeting with the coffee crowd, and lending a helping hand to his neighbors. Hunting and fishing trips with his son, son-in-law and grandsons were special times to him. But, we all knew that his some of his favorite times were spent in the forests of Northern Minnesota. He loved to walk through the woods and enjoy God"s creation. Each tree was a special being to him. Alvin is survived by a son, John (Kathy) Smith of Faribault, MN; daughter, Becky (Dave) Christianson of Grand Rapids, MN; grandson, Daniel Christianson of Havre, MT; granddaughter, Sara (Josh) Kools of Vergas, MN; two great-grandsons: Dustin Smith of Faribault, MN and Marcus Kools of Vergas, MN; and three great-granddaughters: Sedona Christianson, McKenzie and Kailey Kools all of Vergas, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; a brother, Vernon (Bud) and two sisters: Hazel and Evelyn; a granddaughter, Tanya; and great-grandson, Justice. Funeral services will be held 2 P.M., Wednesday, November 19, 2008 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Lake George with Reverend Donald Kirchner officiating. Karen Lueth will be the organist. The congregational hymn will be, "Onward Christian Soldiers". The soloist will be Kent Dudley singing, "Battle Hymn Of The Republic" and "I Love To Tell The Story". Casketbearers will be: Lyle Zubke, Bill Lessman, Walt McAllister, Walter "Bud" Johannson, Paul Mueller & Stan Docktor. Honorary casketbearers will be the staff of Maple Lane. Interment will be made in the Lake George Cemetery. A luncheon will be hosted at the church following the service for all to attend. Visitation will be held from 5-6:30 P.M., Tuesday, November 19, 2008 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Lake George.
