Thursday, November 20, 2008 at the Faith Baptist Church VISITATION: 5-7 P.M. on Wednesday, November 19, 2008 at the Jones-Pearson Funeral Home INTERMENT: Arago/Clover Evergreen Cemetery north of Park Rapids ELOYSE ALICE BARGMarch 7, 1927 ~ November 15, 2008 Eloyse Alice Barg, age 81 of rural Park Rapids, MN passed away on Saturday, November 15, 2008 at St. Joseph"s Area Health Services in Park Rapids, MN. Eloyse was born on March 7, 1927 in Arago Twp., Hubbard Co., MN to Edward and Alice (Broadbent) Horstman. She attended District #33 and #21 country schools, both located in Arago Township. As a young woman, Eloyse ventured to Minneapolis where she worked at the Robin Café. Later she went to California where she did domestic work for several San Bernardino area families. She returned to Park Rapids in 1946. The following spring, on March 22, 1947, she was united in marriage to Frederick Barg. They were blessed with seven children: Wilbur, Phyllis, Priscilla, Laurel, Linda, Marlene, and Frederick. The young couple made their home in Arago Township where they raised their family and farmed for over 40 years. Eloyse always enjoyed raising beautiful flowers and planting a large vegetable garden. She would can a basement full of goods to help meet her families needs. As her children recall, Eloyse made "the world"s best bread". She did a lot of sewing when her children were growing. She also enjoyed doing embroidery to share with family and friends. In later years she found joy in watching the many birds that gathered at the feeders near her living room window. She loved her grandchildren, and would endure putting worms on hooks just to see their little faces light up when they caught those tiny sunfish. Eloyse attended Faith Baptist Church in Park Rapids. Eloyse is survived by 4 daughters: Phyllis (Hank) Berwald of Marietta, GA, Laurel (Dallis) Miliander, of Grand Rapids, MN, Linda (Wayne) Warmbold of Park Rapids, MN, Marlene (Curtis Hawks) Barg of Park Rapids, MN; 2 sons: Wilbur Barg of Park Rapids, MN, Frederick (Melissa) Barg of Stacy, MN; 15 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; 2 sisters: Ardith Schneider of Park Rapids, MN, Edythe (Raymond) Duenow of Fergus Falls, MN; 1 brother, Bruce (Irene) Horstman of St. Paul Park, MN; two sisters-in-law: Beatrice Hermanson and Juanita Dow; many nieces, nephews and numerous friends. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Frederick; one daughter, Priscilla Thorpe; great-grandson, Matthew Cox; sister, Donna Hensel and sister, LaVonne Horstman who died in infancy. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 P.M. Thursday, November 20, 2008 at the Faith Baptist Church in Park Rapids, MN with Reverend Russ Paulson officiating. Visitation will be held from 5-7 P.M. on Wednesday, November 19, 2008 at the Jones-Pearson Funeral Home and for one hour prior to service on Thursday at the church. Casketbearers will be her grandsons: Aaron Miliander, Joshua Berwald, Louis Berwald, Rod "R.J." Thorpe, Jerry Warmbold, Mitchell Barg, and Cory Hawks. Interment will be made in the Arago/Clover Evergreen Cemetery north of Park Rapids.
