FUNERAL SERVICES: 11 AM Wednesday, January 14, 2009 at the Jones-Pearson Funeral Home INTERMENT: Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery at Camp Ripley, MN CHARLOTTE ANN "Corky" ROGNSTAD August 17, 1928 " January 11, 2009 Charlotte Ann "Corky" Rognstad, age 80, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 11, 2008, with her loved ones at her side, at the home of her daughter, Denise in Granite Falls, MN following a valiant battle against cancer. Corky was born on August 17, 1928 in Nora Springs, Iowa to Frank and Mary Jane (Curphey) Dunham. She attended the Park Rapids Public Schools, graduating with the high school class of 1946. On June 27, 1948, Corky was united in marriage to Morrie Rognstad. This union was blessed with four children: Denise, Debbie, Rex and Sandy. She dedicated herself to making a warm and loving home for her husband and children. She was a wonderful cook and baker who will be long remembered for baking delicious after school cookies and other treats that would welcome her children home. She was also exceptional at baking a variety of delicious pies and home made noodles. In addition to homemaking, Corky also worked for a number of years at Munsingwear in Park Rapids. Later, she and her husband owned and operated Morrie"s Bait and Ice Company in Park Rapids. Her life was forever saddened by the death of her husband, Morrie in April of 2002. Corky enjoyed doing craftwork. She spent many hours of her spare time quilting, embroidering or sewing gifts for her family and friends. In her spare time, she enjoyed playing Bingo at the Eagles or Legion. Corky also served her community as a senior companion for a number of years and as a member of the Otto Hendrickson American Legion Post Auxiliary # 212. Above all, Corky relished the time she could spend caring for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Above all, she loved her family with all her heart. She will be lovingly remembered by her three daughters: Denise (Tim) Crowley of Granite Falls, MN, Deb (Michael) Henrion of Alexandria, MN and Sandra (Dave) Rognstad of Park Rapids; her son, Rex of Buffalo; her nine much loved grandchildren: Jamie Pickett, Stacey Offerdahl, Kinsey Rognstad, Ryan Massie, Katie Pickett, Alec Rognstad, Rachel Crowley, Symantha Massie and Maddison Massie; eight great grandchildren: Megan Offerdahl, Cain Mitchell, Allison Offerdahl, Marley Mitchell, Bennett Mitchell, Peyton Offerdahl, Destiny Massie and Jordan Massie; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Corky was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three sisters: Marguerite, Mona and Mildred and three brothers: Fred, Jack and Mike. Services will be held 11 AM Wednesday, January 14, 2009 at the Jones-Pearson Funeral Home in Park Rapids, MN with the Rev. Steven Bruer of Menahga officiating. Special musical tributes will include "Somewhere Over The Rainbow", "On Eagles Wings" and "The Green Green Grass Of Home". The honorary casket bearers will be her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Interment will be made in the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery at Camp Ripley, MN.
