FUNERAL SERVICES: 12 P.M., Saturday, January 17, 2009 at the Cardini-Pearson Funeral Home INTERMENT: Wolf Lake Cemetery MARVIN R. GRANGRUTH August 8, 1927 " January 11, 2009Marvin R. Grangruth, age 81, a lifetime Menahga & Wolf Lake, MN area resident, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 11, 2009 at St. Joseph"s Area Health Services in Park Rapids, MN. Marvin was born on August 8, 1927 near Menahga to Edward & Mayme (Ollila) Grangruth. He attended the Spruce Grove Country School near his home. As a young man, he engaged in farming with his dad. On August 19, 1952, Marvin enlisted in the United States Army where he proudly served his country in Germany as a member of the C Battery 567th Field Artillery Battalion. He was honorably discharged on July 30, 1954 and resumed farming near Wolf Lake. Marvin loved the independence of farm life. He enjoyed working hard to transform the rugged land into a productive farm. He also enjoyed caring for the dairy cattle, hogs, sheep and chickens he raised on the farm. Marvin loved the out of doors and enjoyed hunting the forests and fields of his farm. Marvin is survived by his sister, Mavis Huot of Hutchinson; and a host of beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and 1 brother, Merle. Services will be held 12 P.M., Saturday, January 17, 2009 at the Cardini-Pearson Funeral Home in Menahga with the Reverend Elmer Yliniemi officiating. Interment will be made in the Grangruth family plot in the Wolf Lake Cemetery in the spring. The Wolf Lake VFW Post will provide military honors at that time.
