Lotis was born on September 12, 1921 in Carlton, MN to Royce and Mabel (Peterson) White. As a small girl she moved with her family to a farm in the Becida - Laporte areas just south of Bemidji, MN. It was in this same area that she attended country school and grew into womanhood. On October 1, 1942, Lotis was united in marriage to Thomas Theodore "Ted" Jackson in Bemidji just before his being shipped to the European theatre of WWII. This union was blessed with a son and four daughters. Following the war, Lotis and Ted moved with their young family to Forest River, North Dakota. Lotis devoted her life to making a warm and loving home for her husband and children. She was a wonderful cook and baker who will be long remembered for her delicious homemade potato soup, caramel rolls and rhubarb custard pie. The Jackson"s made their home in several North Dakota communities before returning to Minnesota in 1961 where they made their home in Minneapolis. In 1969 they moved to Lake George, MN where they built the Bushwhacker Café which Lotis and Ted operated until the mid-1970"s. Throughout her life, Lotis enjoyed picking wild berries near her home in the north woods. She and Ted were good dancers, an activity they enjoyed throughout their marriage and something Lotis continued to enjoy even until shortly before her death. Over the years, they enjoyed getting together with friends and having many card parties. Lotis was an accomplished bowler and enjoyed bowling with Ted on mixed leagues for many years. She was a long time member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Lake George, MN where she worked with the ladies circles. She had been a member of several local birthday clubs. Lotis was an avid baseball fan who enjoyed following the Minnesota Twins and the Lake George White boys. Her life was forever saddened by the death of her husband, Ted after 54 years of marriage in 1996. Due to her alzheimers disease, she had become a resident of the Area Nursing Home in Colfax, WI in June of 2001. Lotis will be lovingly remembered by her son, Duane (Cindy) Jackson of Commerce City, CO; her four daughters: Deanna Anderson of Lewisville, TX, Denise (John) Larkey of Garrison, MN, Deborah (Larry) Stobb of Elk Mound, WI and Darlene Gross of St. Cloud, MN; her 18 beloved grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
