FUNERAL SERVICES: memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, February 27, 2009 at the Jones-Pearson Funeral Home in Park Rapids VISITATION: one hour prior to the service at the Jones-Pearson Funeral Home on Friday SURVIVORS: She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 43 years, Bruce; 1 daughter, Sandra (Ronald Jr.) Carnell of Menahga; 2 sons: Wayne (Heather Lewis) Patton of Park Rapids and Paul (Genea) Patton of Park Rapids; 11 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; 2 sisters: Elaine (Roland) Senechal of Drake, ND and Pat (Elliott) Annette of Chaska, MN; 1 brother, Jim Steinke of Minneapolis, MN; 1 brother-in-law, Tom Grau of Newell, Iowa; her dear friend, Janet Scott of Park Rapids; as well as several nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. JUDITH KAY "Judy" PATTON September 30, 1945 " February 23, 2009Judy Kay Patton, age 63, of Park Rapids, MN, passed away peacefully at her home on February 23, 2009 with her family by her side following a valiant battle against cancer. Judy was born on September 30, 1945 in Devils Lake, ND to Merril and Nina (Roth) Steinke. During her younger years, Judy attended school in North Dakota until her family moved to Park Rapids during her high school years. Judy graduated from the Park Rapids High School with the class of 1964. She was united in marriage to Bruce Patton on July 9, 1966 at the St. Johns Lutheran Church in Park Rapids. This union was blessed with 3 children: Wayne, Sandra and Paul. Judy gained employment with the H.W. Carter and Sons Ringer Company in Park Rapids and worked there until its closing. She then gained employment with Lamb Weston R.D.O. where she worked for 25 years as a laboratory technician until her failing health forced her into retirement in February of 2007. Judy loved the out of doors; especially when she was hunting or fishing with her family. Judy also grew a large vegetable garden each year that she would nurture into fruitful abundance to can for the needs of her growing family. She also took pride in her flower gardens that she tended each year for others to see and enjoy. Judy was a wonderful cook and baker who will long be remembered for the holiday meals that she would prepare for her family and friends. Judy was a long-time member of the St. Johns Lutheran Church in Park Rapids. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 43 years, Bruce; 1 daughter, Sandra (Ronald Jr.) Carnell of Menahga; 2 sons: Wayne (Heather Lewis) Patton of Park Rapids and Paul (Genea) Patton of Park Rapids; 11 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; 2 sisters: Elaine (Roland) Senechal of Drake, ND and Pat (Elliott) Annette of Chaska, MN; 1 brother, Jim Steinke of Minneapolis, MN; 1 brother-in-law, Tom Grau of Newell, Iowa; her dear friend, Janet Scott of Park Rapids; as well as several nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. Judy was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Cheryl Grau; and nephew, Bruce Senechal. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, February 27, 2009 at the Jones-Pearson Funeral Home in Park Rapids with Reverend James Neubauer officiating. The honorary casketbearers will be Judy"s grandchildren and great grandchildren. Recorded musical tributes will be "I Hope You Dance" by Lee Ann Womack and "Sissy"s Song" by Alan Jackson. A luncheon will be hosted at the St. Johns Lutheran Church in Park Rapids following the service for all to attend. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the Jones-Pearson Funeral Home on Friday.
