Saturday, May 30, 2009 at the St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church in Park Rapids with Father Friedl officiatingVISITATION : One hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday, May 30, 2009.SURVIVORS : Leo will be lovingly missed by his wife of 57 years, Dorothy; 1 daughter, Peggy (Donald) Boothroyd of Richfield; 2 sons: Greg (Sheri) Gregerson of San Angelo, TX and Kevin (Eve) Gregerson of Apple Valley; 4 grandchildren: Donald (Jennifer) Boothroyd of Chaska, GaNe" Boothroyd (Ryan Ferreras) of Savage, Anna (Ryan) Berg of Burnsville and Shawn Gregerson of San Angelo, TX; 7 great grandchildren: 3 sisters: Hildur (Bryce) Lamon of Bemidji, Edna (Vaughn) Best of Grand Terrace, CA and Olive (Louie) Brand of Puyallup, WA; 2 sisters-in-law: Lorraine Gregerson and Benita Gregerson; as well as many nieces and nephews. LEO THOMAS GREGERSON May 12, 1922 ~ February 27, 2009Leo Thomas Gregerson, age 86, of Park Rapids, MN and Tucson, AZ, passed away peacefully at his winter home in Tucson on Friday, February 27, 2009. Leo was born on May 12, 1922 in Beltrami County, MN, to Ingval and Anna (Lone) Gregerson. Leo graduated from the Agricultural High School in Grand Rapids, MN. Leo served in the Army Air Force from 1942 until the fall of 1945. Following his honorable discharge, Leo attended the University of Minnesota. Leo was united in marriage to Dorothy Cook on June 16, 1951 in Sioux City, IA and they were blessed with 3 children: Peggy, Greg and Kevin. Leo worked as a brakeman for 30 years with the Great Northern/Burlington Northern Railroad. Leo and Dorothy also enjoyed a winter home in Tucson, AZ. Leo enjoyed reading, poetry and served as a reading mentor for children. He served his parishes as a lector, religious instructor and visitor to shut-ins. Leo was an avid outdoorsman, who had a passion for nature and hunting; and enjoyed sharing these activities with his sons. Leo enjoyed playing bridge, square dancing, taking part in theater productions, table tennis, cheering for his favorite sports teams (Vikings & Twins), and vacation road trips. He was a member of the St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church in Park Rapids and the Mission San Xavier del Bac in Tucson, American Legion Post #212 and the Knights of Columbus. Leo will be lovingly missed by his wife of 57 years, Dorothy; 1 daughter, Peggy (Donald) Boothroyd of Richfield; 2 sons: Greg (Sheri) Gregerson of San Angelo, TX and Kevin (Eve) Gregerson of Apple Valley; 4 grandchildren: Donald (Jennifer) Boothroyd of Chaska, GaNe" Boothroyd (Ryan Ferreras) of Savage, Anna (Ryan) Berg of Burnsville and Shawn Gregerson of San Angelo, TX; 7 great grandchildren: 3 sisters: Hildur (Bryce) Lamon of Bemidji, Edna (Vaughn) Best of Grand Terrace, CA and Olive (Louie) Brand of Puyallup, WA; 2 sisters-in-law: Lorraine Gregerson and Benita Gregerson; as well as many nieces and nephews. Leo was preceded in death by his parents; 3 sisters: Irene, Sylvia and infant sister, Olive; and 3 brothers: Albert, Oray and Carmon. A memorial service was held March 13th at the Rincon Country West RV Resort in Tucson. A memorial mass will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, May 30, 2009 at the St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church in Park Rapids with Father Friedl officiating. Music will be led by the Alleluia Choir. A luncheon will be hosted at the church following the service for all to attend. Funeral arrangements provided by the Jones-Pearson Funeral Home.
