OLIVE BOEMECKE KING December 22, 1911 ~ April 12, 2009 Olive Boemecke King, age 97 of Park Rapids, MN passed away on Easter Sunday, April 12, 2009 at her home in Park Rapids, Mn. Olive was born near Waterloo, Iowa on December 22, 1911. Olive was the second eldest of 13 children born to Roy and Katherine (Stoffel) Boemecke. She attended Catholic schools for 12 years and graduated second in her class. She learned the beautician trade and opened her own beauty parlor which she ran for many years in Waterloo, Iowa. Olive was married to Don King for over 35 years. Their union was blessed with one son, Neil. They moved to Park Rapids in 1948. Don owned and operated the Shell Regional Dealership and The King"s Corner Gas Station. Olive owned and operated King"s Drive-In, for over 20 years, on the same corner. She served Park Rapids as the Welcome Wagon Host before and during the time Don was Mayor. Olive was an active member of St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church since 1948. Olive will be lovingly remembered by her son, Neil, and his wife Elaine Hanson, of Park Rapids; one sister, Peg Vines of Wichita, Kansas; and a brother Bob Boemecke of Guttenberg, Iowa. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, April 18, 2009 at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church in Park Rapids, with Father Tom Friedl officiating. Interment will be made at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Cemetery.
