Lois E. Pritchard May 25, 1920 " April 20, 2009 Lois Elaine Pritchard, age 88, of Park Rapids, MN, passed away Monday, April 20, 2009 at the Heritage Living Center in Park Rapids. Lois Elaine (Smith) Pritchard was born May 25, 1920 in Osage Township, Becker County, Minnesota, daughter of Floran and Faye Smith. She attended District 37 Rural Schools and Park Rapids High School, graduating in 1937. After graduation, she was employed at various positions: as clerk, waitress, nurses aide at Wesley Hospital in Wadena, MN, and later as manager of the Sears Order Office in Wadena. She was married to Victor "Harold" Pritchard on September 16, 1946, and they farmed for several years in the Osage vicinity. After her husband"s death in 1993 she continued to live on the family farm with son, Eugene. In 1996 she moved to River Heights Apartments and in 1999 she moved to Court Apartments in Park Rapids where she lived until 2000 when she moved to Park Villa apartments. She was hospitalized in February of this year and then resided at Heritage Living Center from early March until her death. Lois was a home-loving person; she enjoyed gardening her flowers and vegetables which she shared with others, caring for her home, doing embroidery and various crafts. She enjoyed writing and reading and several of her articles were published by local papers or national magazines. She taught Sunday School class and assisted with release classes at the First Baptist Church of Osage where she was a member and faithful worker for many years. She was also a member of the Senior Citizens Club and the Bakers" Dozen Homemakers Club as long as her health permitted. She was especially proud of her Scottish heritage and her children, grandchildren, and great grand children were her pride and joy, and she considered no sacrifice too great for their welfare. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three brothers (Dale, Doyle and Dallas), and daughter in law, Margie. Her real memorial is not written here, but in the hearts of her dear family. Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Thursday, April 23, 2009 at the Faith Baptist Church with Dick Jorgenson and Scott Warne officiating. Interment will be made in the Riverside Cemetery in Osage, MN. A luncheon will be hosted at the church following the service for all to attend. Visitation will be held from 5-7:00 P.M. Wednesday, April 22, 2009 at the Jones-Pearson Funeral Home in Park Rapids with a prayer service being held at 6:30 P.M. Visitation will also begin one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.
