NORBERT GEORGE HOLLER December 26, 1917 " May 16, 2009 Norbert George Holler, age 91, of Park Rapids, MN passed away Saturday, May 16, 2009 at St. Joseph"s Area Health Services in Park Rapids. Norbert was born on December 26, 1917 to Agnes (Fox) and John Holler in Becker Co., Minnesota. He grew up and attended school in Two Inlets, MN. Norbert enlisted in the United States Army in August of 1941 and served until his honorable discharge in February 1946. Following his military service, Norbert was united in marriage to Elsie Robbins on August 13, 1946 in Becker Co., MN. This union was blessed with ten children: Pam, Linda, Shirley, Rick, Vicki, Larry, Darla, Rod, Randy and Greg. Norbert worked farming for a number of years in Hubbard and Two Inlets until he gained employment with the Silver Bay Taconite Plant where he worked until his retirement in 1982. Following his retirement, Norbert found great joy in gardening and each spring would plant a beautiful flower garden that he tended for all to see and enjoy. He enjoyed the companionship of his dogs. He also spent time admiring birds and other wildlife that inhabited the area. Due to his failing health, Norbert went to live with his friend and caregiver, Millie Wilson in Osage, MN where he lived for 17 years until his health required him to move to Heritage Living Center in Park Rapids where he resided for the past 2 years. Norbert is survived by his children: Pam (Phil) Tharaldson of Osage, MN, Linda (Albert) Santos of Las Vegas, Nevada, Shirley Bower of Park Rapids, MN, Vicki (Pete) McKnight of Eugene, Oregon, Larry (Rita) Holler of Bemidji, MN, Darla (Ray) Smith of Park Rapids, MN, Rod (Terri) Holler of Park Rapids, MN, Randy (Dori) Holler of Twin Falls, Idaho, and Greg (Gini) Holler of Bemidji, MN; many grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives; as well as friend and caregiver, Millie Wilson of Osage, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Rick Holler; granddaughter, Summer Sue Holler; grandson, R.J. Holler; 3 sisters and 3 brothers. Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Thursday, May 21, 2009 at the Jones-Pearson Funeral Home with Reverend Art Wood officiating. Casketbearers will be: Terry Kimball, Ben Kimball, Tom Mettert, Terry Tretbar, Don Kendall & Frank "Doc" Blanchard. Interment will be made in the Riverside Cemetery in Osage, MN. Visitation will be held from 6-8:00 P.M. Wednesday, May 20, 2009 and one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the Jones-Pearson Funeral Home in Park Rapids.
