JOSEPH E. SINGLER August 9, 1929 - May 19, 2009 Joseph E. (Joe) Singler, age 79, of Park Rapids, MN died at his home at Care-Age Country Home in Park Rapids on Tuesday May 19th. Joe was born August 9, 1929 in Hallock, Minnesota to Alice and Joseph Singler. He was confirmed June 27th 1943 in the Evangelical Mission Covenant church at Lancaster, MN. He graduated from Lancaster High School in 1949. On June 24, 1972 Joe was united married the former Bette De Ann Shoop at the First Christian Church of Minneapolis, MN. They lived in Minneapolis until retiring when they moved to Park Rapids, MN. Joe and Bette traveled to Alaska many times and also to Oregon to visit Joe"s sister, Florence. They also traveled to Hawaii. He enjoyed visiting his hometown of Lancaster, MN to see his sister, Gloria and her family. Joe was a kind and loving person who was always loved and appreciated over the years by his sisters and his many nieces and nephews. Joe loved animals and had many dogs over the years. He also feed the deer, squirrels and birds that frequented the yard of his Park Rapids home. Joe was a member of Riverside United Methodist Church. Joe is survived by his sister, Gloria Bernstrom, brother-in-law, Robert Shoop, sister-in-law, Patti Shoop and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Florence Clow and his wife, Bette. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, May 30, 2009 at the Riverside United Methodist Church in Park Rapids, MN with Reverend Don Bird officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
