Bruer officiating.VISITATION : from 12 noon until the time of service at the church on Friday, June 26, 2009.INTERMENT: Menahga City CemeterySURVIVORS : Douglas is survived by his 2 sisters: Colleen Lage of Stillwater, Oklahoma, Sharleen Lindquist of Menahga; 3 brothers: Russell (Linda) West of Ennis, Montana, Tom West of Menahga and Stephen (Char) West of Menahga; 1 sister-in-law, Linda West of Menahga; as well as many nieces and nephews. Douglas Owen West January 15, 1944 " June 23, 2009 Douglas Owen West, age 65, of Wadena, MN, passed away Tuesday, June 23, 2009 at the St. Cloud Hospital. Douglas was born on January 15, 1944 at the Wadena Hospital to Francis & Hazel (Stephens) West. After leaving Menahga, Douglas lived in Cambridge, MN, Brainerd, MN, and Little Falls, MN before finally moving to Wadena, MN in 1982 to the Trailwood Group Home. He lived there until passing away. Douglas was always very interested in sports. He enjoyed the times when he was able to compete in the state Special Olympics. He also made sure you knew how good of a bowler he was. Douglas was always very excited about his summer trips to Camp Friendship with his friends. Douglas was always proud of his job at the Wadena County Recycling Center, and of course all of the different jobs he did with his friends and staff from the Sebeka Developmental Achievement Center. Douglas" family would like to extend a special thanks to all of the people of Wadena Group Share Home and the Sebeka DAC staff for all of the great things you have done for our brother. You were all very important in his life. Our family will always have the deepest respect and gratitude for all that you did for him. Thanks, The West Family. Douglas is survived by his 2 sisters: Colleen Lage of Stillwater, Oklahoma, Sharleen Lindquist of Menahga; 3 brothers: Russell (Linda) West of Ennis, Montana, Tom West of Menahga and Stephen (Char) West of Menahga; 1 sister-in-law, Linda West of Menahga; as well as many nieces and nephews. Douglas was preceded in death by his parents; infant sister, Vicki West; brother, Sandy West; and 2 brothers-in-law: Gerald Lage and Norm Lindquist. Funeral services will be held 1:30 P.M. Friday, June 26, 2009 at the First English Lutheran Church in Menahga with Reverend Steven A. Bruer officiating. Lonnie Schmidt will be the organist and will also sing "Over The Sunset Mountains". The congregational hymn will be "Peace Is Flowing Like A River". Casketbearers will be: Russell West, Tom West, Steve West and Dave Lusti. Interment will be made in the Menahga City Cemetery.
