CLYDE EDWARD JESSEN January 12, 1947 ~ July 7, 2009 Clyde Edward Jessen, age 62 of Park Rapids, MN, formerly of Menahga, MN, passed away on Tuesday, July 7, 2009 at his home with his loved ones at his side. Clyde was born on January 12, 1947 to Harold and Hazel (Bankord) Jessen of Menahga. He attended country school through the 4th grade and then went on to Menahga Public Schools from where he graduated in 1965. Clyde entered the military in 1966. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged in 1972. Clyde met Bonnie Jean Benham of Park Rapids in 1968. It was love at first sight, and Bonnie and Clyde were married on February 1, 1969. They had three children: Kevin, Kimberly and Cheryl "Squeak". Clyde and Bonnie started out together in Menahga managing turkey farms for a number of years. He then worked in a variety of jobs including farming, carpentry and as the manager of two different resorts. For the last 20 years, Clyde has worked with the Walter Ringer family in Park Rapids caring for the Ringer family property. Clyde always enjoyed small, simple things. He enjoyed a cup of coffee with his family, friends and neighbors. He enjoyed his pipe filled with cherry blend tobacco. He never missed a holiday, birthday, or special occasion. He treasured these moments with family and friends and made them extra special. Clyde had to be busy building or fixing something. He spent much of his free time in the wood shop. He also enjoyed being outside in the woods and playing his guitar. Clyde"s biggest love was for his wife and his family. He will be long remembered by all who knew him as a man of genuine warmth and sincerity who always encouraged everyone with his quick sense of humor. Clyde was preceded in death by his father in 1988 and one brother in infancy. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, July 13, 2009 at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Park Rapids, MN with Reverend James Neubauer officiating. Visitation will be held from 5-8:00 P.M. on Sunday, July 12, 2009 at the Jones-Pearson Funeral Home in Park Rapids, MN. Organist and soloist will be Lonnie Schmidt. He will sing "It Is No Secret What God Can Do", "One Day At A Time", and "Whispering Hope." Active casketbearers will be Joe Ringer, Tom Hurlburt, Kenny Phillips, Dean Cumber, Jim Becker, and Lynn Wiebe. Honorary Casketbearers will be Clyde"s six grandchildren and The Walter Ringer family. Military honors will be performed by the Star of the North Marine Corp League of Park Rapids. Interment will be made in the Shell City Cemetery near Huntersville, MN. Memorials are preferred to the St. Joseph"s Area Hospice.
