Monday, July 13, 2009 at the Jones-Pearson Funeral Home in Park Rapids.INTERMENT : Riverside Cemetery, Osage, MNSURVIVORS : She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of over 50 years, Clayton; her three daughters: Lynn Christianson (Gerald Robertson) of Osage, Lori (Ken) Pelzel of Lester Prairie, MN and Gail (Brian Ahart) Haller of Osage; son-in-law, Mitch Haller; the four grand children who richly have blessed her life: Gwendolyn and Julia Pelzel, Brandon Haller and Taylor Ahart; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. IONE JOANN CHRISTIANSON November 19, 1936 " July 8, 2009 Ione Joann Christianson, age 72, a lifelong Osage area resident, peacefully passed into eternal life on Wednesday, July 8, 2009 following a period of declining health surrounded by her loved ones at the Emmanuel Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes, MN. Joann was born on November 19, 1936 to Clair and Gwendolyn (Frazier) Condit near Osage, MN. She grew into womanhood on her parent"s family farm in Osage Township and attended country school nearby through the eighth grade. She went on to attend high school in Park Rapids from where she graduated with the infamous Class of 1954. Joann was united in marriage to Clayton Christianson on October 19, 1958 in Osage. This union was blessed with three daughters: Lynn, Lori and Gail. Joann devoted herself to making a warm and loving home for her husband and girls. She was a wonderful cook and baker who will be long remembered for her delicious homemade breads and cinnamon rolls. When her daughters were small, she would spend hours on the sewing machine making clothes for them to wear to school and church. In 1975, Joann gained employment working for the Park Rapids School District #309 as a baker and cook. She was a woman of faith who enjoyed worshipping at the Osage Baptist/ Grace Community Church where she was active in many areas. Joann was a woman of many interests. Each spring she enjoyed nurturing a large vegetable garden into fruitful abundance to meet the needs of her growing family. Joann also enjoyed raising beautiful flowers into colorful splendor for all to see and enjoy. She loved creating wood crafts, painting, playing cards and dancing with her life long dance partner, Clayton. Above all, Joann dedicated her life to her husband, her daughters and her four dearly loved grandchildren. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of over 50 years, Clayton; her three daughters: Lynn Christianson (Gerald Robertson) of Osage, Lori (Ken) Pelzel of Lester Prairie, MN and Gail (Brian Ahart) Haller of Osage; son-in-law, Mitch Haller; the four grand children who richly have blessed her life: Gwendolyn and Julia Pelzel, Brandon Haller and Taylor Ahart; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Joann was preceded in death by her parents. Funeral services have been set for 11 AM Tuesday, January 14, 2009 at the Grace Community Church in Osage, MN with the Reverend Ken Polley officiating. Casket bearers will be her nephews: David Christianson, Dennis Christianson, Dean Christianson, Doug Christianson, Paul Hand, John Hand and William Natvig. Honorary casket bearers will be Mary Holmer, Donna Lymburner, Ruby Sharp, Sue Montzka and the Park Rapids High School Class of 1954. Interment will be made in the Riverside Cemetery of Osage. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 PM Monday, July 13, 2009 at the Jones-Pearson Funeral Home in Park Rapids and again for one hour prior to the services on Tuesday at the Grace Community Church.
