DONALD LEE "Don" LARSON October 26, 1934 " July 16, 2009 Donald Lee Larson, age 74, of Park Rapids, MN, passed away July 16, 2009 at Triumph Hospital in Fargo, ND. Don was born on October 26, 1934 to Edward and Margaret (Bukowatz) Larson in La Crosse, Wisconsin. Don grew up and attended country school in the La Crosse, WI area until moving to Walker, MN where his family resided on a home on Third Lake. Growing up, Don enjoyed the out of doors especially when he could be hunting or fishing on the lake near his home. He graduated with the Park Rapids High Class of 1951. Following high school, Don gained employment with a box factory in Pengilly, MN. Don joined the United States National Guard on November 10, 1953. He was honorably discharged from the U.S. National Guard on March 19, 1960. He then gained employment for a contractor in Park Rapids working on the high lines. He then went on to work in the mines near Babbott, MN where he worked for 30 plus years. Don retired from the mines at the age of 61. Following his retirement, he moved back to Walker, MN where he resided at his family"s Third Lake Home. Don was also an avid reader and enjoyed watching movies from his movie collection. Don moved to Park Rapids in 2004 where he resided until his passing. Don is survived by his brother, David or Park Rapids, MN; and numerous cousins. Don was preceded in death by his parents; an infant sister, Joanne; and brother, Gary. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, August 1, 2009 at the Jones-Pearson Funeral Home with Mike Kaufenberg officiating. Burial will be made in the Evergreen Cemetery in Walker, MN.
