LAMBERT G. RENNEBERG September 12, 1920 " July 22, 2009 Lambert G. Renneberg, age 88 a longtime Menahga area resident and businessman, passed away peacefully at the St. Joseph"s Hospital in Park Rapids with his lovely wife and sons at his side on Wednesday, July 22, 2009. Lambert was born on September 12, 1920 to Gerhard and Catherine (Green) Renneberg at Cudworth, Saskatchewan, Canada where he attended school and grew to manhood. As a young man, Lambert joined the Canadian Army where he was part of the Signal Corps. He proudly served in the allied forces during World War II and was part of the heroic D-Day invasion. Following his discharge from the Army he ventured to Iowa where he engaged in farming. It was there that he met, his soulmate, Agnes Flick, and the young couple was married on June 19, 1946 at the St. Boniface Catholic Church in Ionia, Iowa. This union was blessed with three sons: Jeff, Greg and Wes. Lambert and Agnes engaged in farming in Ionia for ten years. In 1957, they ventured to Menahga, MN where they owned and operated the Twin Lakes Lodge for a number of years. In 1962, Lambert started a moving business and later discovered his calling working with lumber as manager for the Minnesota Forest Products. This experience led him to fulfill his lifelong dream of operating his own business with his sons, which is now known as Renneberg Hardwoods. Lambert was very dedicated to his faith and his church, The Assumption of Our Lady Catholic Church in Menahga. He served as a church council member for a number of years and used his musical talents in the choir where he had formerly served as it"s choir director. Lambert was also an active member of the community. He was a founding member of the Menahga Development Association, a former Menahga School board member, and was a member of the American Legion and the Twin Lakes Association. He loved the out of doors. He was an avid fisherman when time allowed. In his retirement, Lambert enjoyed working around his house and yard. His garden was his pride and joy. Above all, Lambert devoted his life to his wife, his sons and his grandchildren who he loved with all his heart. Lambert will be lovingly remembered by his wife of nearly 62 years, Agnes of Menahga; his sons: Jeff (Phyllis) of Menahga, Greg (Joyce) of Reedsburg, WI and Wes (Lenora) of Menahga; 8 beloved grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren; two sisters: Muriel (Wilfred) Welter of Edmonton, Alberta and Irene Classen of Lloydminster, Saskatchewan; three brothers: Oscar (Dorothy) Renneberg of Cudworth, Saskatchewan, Ray (Stella) Renneberg of Kamloops, British Columbia and Wally (Angela) Renneberg of Thorsby, Alberta as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Roman and Don; and three sisters: Leona, Frances and Rita. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. at The Assumption of Our Lady Catholic Church in Menahga with Father Donald Wagner officiating. Visitation will be held from 5 PM to 8 P.M. on Friday, July 24, 2009 at the Cardini-Pearson Funeral Home in Menahga with a prayer service at 7:30 P.M. Visitation will also be held for one hour prior to service at the church on Saturday. Active casketbearers will be Jeffrey Renneberg, Greg Renneberg, Wes Renneberg, Keith Renneberg, Jeff Reinhart and Jack Bloomquist. Honorary casketbearers will be Tim Clisch, Wade Van Keulen, Arlen Kangas, Calvin Craker, Chuck Braunschweig, Martin Olson, and the members of the Menahga Development Corp. Military Honors provided by the Guy L. McDermeit VFW Post #6206 of Menahga, MN. Interment will be made in the Assumption of Our Lady Catholic Cemetery in Menahga.
