FUNERAL SERVICES : 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, October 7, 2009 at the Jones-Pearson Funeral Home in Park Rapids.VISITATION : 5-7:00 P.M. Tuesday, October 6, 2009 at the Jones-Pearson Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Wednesday.INTERMENT : Greenwood Cemetery, Park Rapids, MNSURVIVORS : Ada will be lovingly remembered by her children: Doug Dickinson of Park Rapids, Tessie (Doc) Blanchard of Osage, MN, Louise (Dean) Christianson of Ponsford, MN, Tom Dickinson of Park Rapids, Irene (Dan) Gartner of Park Rapids and Jim Dickinson also of Park Rapids; 19 grandchildren; 39 great grandchildren and 18 great great grandchildren; a half-brother, Dale Ogden of Coleraine, MN and a half sister, Vera Glienke of Iowa; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. ADA MAXINE DICKINSON July 21, 1916 " October 3, 2009 Ada Maxine Dickinson, 93, a long time Park Rapids area resident, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 3, 2009 at St. Mary"s Hospital in Detroit Lakes, MN surrounded by her loved ones. Ada was born on July 21, 1916 in Storm Lake, Iowa to Ralph and Elsie (Overholser) Ogden. As a small girl of six years, she moved with her family to the Park Rapids area where her dad farmed. She attended country school near her home where she also grew to womanhood. On October 24, 1933, Ada was united in marriage to Roscoe David Dickinson in Park Rapids. This union was blessed with eight children: Charles, Doug, Tessie, Louise, Tom, Irene, Jim and a daughter who died in infancy. Ada dedicated herself to making a warm and loving home for her husband and children. She was a wonderful cook and baker who will be long remembered for her delicious homemade chicken and noodles, her famous fried chicken and also her tasty cinnamon rolls. Each spring she looked forward to planting a large vegetable garden which she would nurture into fruitful abundance to preserve for her growing family. She also raised beautiful flowers into colorful splendor for all to see and enjoy. When her children were older, Ada began working at the Sunset Nursing Home in Park Rapids where she faithfully worked in the housekeeping department for many years. On February 14, 1981, Ada endured the heartache of her husband"s death. She also grieved the death of her oldest son, Charles in July of 1999. Ada had a zest for life. She loved music and especially enjoyed dancing with her husband over the many years of their marriage. She loved animals of all shapes and sizes and watching her favorite soap operas. Ada was a keen card player who enjoyed playing with her family and friends. Above all, Ada devoted her life to her children, grandchildren and great grand children who she loved with all her heart. Ada will be lovingly remembered by her children: Doug Dickinson of Park Rapids, Tessie (Doc) Blanchard of Osage, MN, Louise (Dean) Christianson of Ponsford, MN, Tom Dickinson of Park Rapids, Irene (Dan) Gartner of Park Rapids and Jim Dickinson also of Park Rapids; 19 grandchildren; 39 great grandchildren and 18 great great grandchildren; a half-brother, Dale Ogden of Coleraine, MN and a half sister, Vera Glienke of Iowa; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Ada was preceded in death by her husband; her son, Charles; a daughter in infancy; son-in-law, John Burlingame, daughter-in-law, Janice Dickinson; a grandson, Timothy Blanchard in 1992; a grand daughter, Julie and a great grandson, William. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, October 7, 2009 at the Jones-Pearson Funeral Home in Park Rapids with Reverend Ken Polley officiating. Dorothy Crook will be the organist. Bob Stevens will sing "Amazing Grace". Gail Haller will sing "On Eagle"s Wings" & "The Old Rugged Cross". Casketbearers will be: Kenny Dickinson, Kurt Dickinson, Scott Burlingame, Terry Burlingame, Scott Dickinson, Pete Dickinson, Jon Dickinson, Derek Dickinson, David Dickinson & Jason Gartner. Honorary casketbearers will be: Janan Sharpe, Traci Ahart, Amanda Dickinson, Jackie Dickinson, Karen Oshkinowe, Kathy Pachel, Sue Burlingame, Brenda Tretbar & Cindy Dickinson. Interment will be made in the Greenwood Cemetery. A luncheon will be hosted at the Eagle"s Club in Park Rapids following the services for all to attend. Visitation will be held from 5-7:00 P.M. on Tuesday, October 6, 2009 at the Jones-Pearson Funeral Home in Park Rapids and one hour prior to the service at the Jones-Pearson Funeral Home on Wednesday.
